STUPID chickens!
All but Willie and a few hens still will not touch the hot 'coals'(new bedding) on the coop floor.
Had to chase them off the roosts/boards, they ended up on the aux roost then out to the aux run where they are all huddled under the coop.
Means most haven't eaten or drank, as evidenced by the levels of both.
SMH.

Willie and the smarter hens haven't yet shown them that they won't die??

Fabio and Olivia will come in to test the waters at ANYTHING I put in the coop. When I dumped a bale of pine shavings, still in a big blocky chunk, into the middle of the coop the chickens heard me in there and came to investigate. They hit the breaks at the pop door. Olivia and Fabio slowly approached. Olivia started to scratch the block apart and Fabio started tid-bitting. It wasn't long before all were inside flinging shavings all over the place having a grand time.

I am out of bird seed for scratch so I brought at tin of sardines out this morning.

My flock fairly looses their collective noodle over sardines. They are the most coveted food.
I just toss gobs of sardines all over the place and they stampede around trying to get their share.
Fabio literally ran over his youngest daughter, Wren, trying to get to some. I don't think he meant to. She just ran right in front of him and he tumbled over her. It was still funny to see.

They tried, but others were not paying attention.
I thought they'd come down to go outside for scratch breakfast.

I've spread some alfalfa hay around to break up the new color....and shook the BOSS bottle again, only the brave ones responded. At least one is in a nest laying, hope that urge gets a few more inside.

I haven't decorated our homes for any season for 9 years because of always living in a construction site.
When DH got the cancer diagnosis this January, I promised myself this year I would decorate for us. I bought the tree in January.
I've never had an artificial tree before but this one looked nice. I can't stand cutting a real tree down anymore just to use as decoration for several weeks.
We turned on Christmas music and listened to that while I set up the tree and put decorations around the house.
