Good morning and thanks for the coffee! My horse chores are done. I have to get them done before 8am and usually before 7:30 am as the wind or snow kicks in by then. Weird, but the way it goes. The winds are currently screaming out there, 60 + and increasing thru the day to 80 or 90mph something... I haven't looked for real, I just saw the general straight line going up on the forecast wind graph, donned the Alaskan Hardware gear and
got stuff done. It looks much prettier from inside...

Hi Margie, you better tie yourself to something, that wind is fierce!

We're having 65 mph gusts. Good thing my chickens aren't free ranging, who knows where they'd end up.

I can't fathom 80-90 mph winds. 60 mph scares the willies out of me, as we're surrounded by trees.

Depending on the forecast model, we could get 5" to 12" of snow on Saturday. I just went to the gas station to fill up the gas can. I would have saved a trip if I'd remembered it yesterday.

The pavement was fine. The back roads were ok. The problem with the back roads is wet snow packs down into ice, and then we get a little bit of snow on top. Can't tell it's ice until you're on it.

So I drive slowly, and usually take my lane out of the middle. And check my rear view to see if anyone is behind me, wanting to pass (rarely, if ever) and move over as soon as I see anyone ahead of me (sometimes, but not every trip). That's the way most people drive out here. Especially the big farm trucks. We make room for each other, and wave as we go by.

When the road gets really rough, we all drive slowly, all over the road. There are some places that might dent a tire rim if you're in too big of a hurry.

One reason I chose my rural place on a main road.

This time of year I can see the attraction of that, for sure! We have 3.5 miles of dirt road to get to pavement, in two different directions.

Hey Cafe had another 4 inches to give us foot and half .. May see reliefe first of next week ..

Wow, that's a ton of snow Penny! Are you keeping your snowshoes handy?
