BYC Café

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee.

Going to get up near 60, then we'll have strong winds tonight. And snow on Monday. SMH.

I'm going to rake up the leaves in the front yard, assuming they're not frozen down any more. DH and a friend are going to split wood. Then kabobs on the grill for lunch. What says "spring" more than grilling lunch?

Ha-ha spring, anyway. Not-quite-spring. Teaser spring. Taste of spring-to-come.

Yes, and that snow preceded by rain here.

Smelled spring this morning, 2 dead skunks on the road between here and grocery store.
I'm currently working nights' calving at a family friend's ranch. (And, since we're in the cafe thread, I should mention consuming a lot of coffee!)

There's a lot more coyotes, raccoons, and even foxes running around then there was a month ago. The killdeer are making an appearance, too. Rotten little things fly up in my face when I'm walking through the fields... scare the crap out of me.

It was warm enough to melt the snow near the road and that was enough incentive to cross the great white divide.

Good evening Cafe.
I'm thinking about taking one of the allotment plots on. As the weather gets warmer, hopefully, I thought it would be good to have something physical to do while the chickens are out and about.
I've been offered a plot. I'm going to have a bit of a dig next week and see what the soil is like.

How far is it from your house?
They can be hard to get, yeah?
