Yesterday, DH got a wonderfully nice compliment from his boss that speaks to what a fantastic employee he is. (I already knew that.)

DH is retiring in mid-July, and is thinking he might work part-time, or if they need him for a special project. He really likes his job, and the people; he just wants time to work on his own projects, and not be tied to doing it on the weekend.

The owner told him he is welcome to work any hours he'd like to, that he can basically "write his own ticket" for his retirement. And if he decides he wants to come back, there will be a spot for him, guaranteed.

So nice to know that he is valued.

Bird flu made it onto the NBC evening news. They stressed that it is HIGHLY unlikely to spread to humans. They also said it is likely to increase the cost of chicken and eggs at the store.

But we already knew that.

Wish DH would reconsider us harvesting cockerels for meat. Then I could hatch out my own eggs.

I dug up two 5' diameter areas of dirt. I just got the sod off*, not really holes there yet. Future home of apple trees. The soil is heavy, wet clay, made even more heavy by the recent rain.

*I kept saying, "Sod off!" as I dug. I've wanted to say that.

Yes, I have seen this with some dogs.
