I've mowed 3.5 times. I can remember when my first mowing was the second week in May.

But it is No Mow May!!! We are supposed to no mow so the insects can eat.

I will be away from the Cafe' for a couple of weeks. Behave in my absence.

Oh, we will, you can be sure of that! What day did you say you were leaving?

Hunting for plant pots this morning. Allotment and chickens this afternoon.
Warm enough with a tiny amount of drizzle this evening.

Beautiful day here. Widget, my recently broody girl, wanted to spend the night in the nest box. No, honey, not allowed. I let them out this morning, and she ran outside, drank, ran back in and got in the nest box. Uh oh. She's only been un-broody for 4 days.

She needed to lay an egg. Thank you, pretty girl, thank you.

We had perfect weather today.

I put the whirligig back up and washed and hung three loads of laundry.

I emptied the older compost bay, one wheelbarrow full into each raised garden bed and turned each one in. I kept about 2 wheelbarrows full for the pond landscaping when I do that.

Then I emptied the coop and layered in it with the new compost bay and completely cleaned the coop. It was SOOO dusty.

I'm going to try something new this summer and leave the window to the run just cracked and leave the rest wide open to see if that minimizes the amount of dust drifting in through the window. It's probably a pipe dream.

The whole time I was in there running the air compressor blowing dust out, Jody stayed fast to the nest. She's been ticking for a while. So Tink was released from the clink this morning and Jody just took her spot. I'll be swapping them out all summer long...

Oooo! I need a cup! In fact, I'll bring another pot. My energy from yesterday must have dissipated while I slept.

I thought it was supposed to be sunny today, but it's totally overcast. Nice, though, at about 68 and heading for mid 70s.

We have 2 Montmorency sour cherry trees. The older one (by a year) has lots of flowers, the younger one has some. They are self fruitful, but a second one will help with pollination, so we got a second one. I am soooo hoping we get cherries this year. I'm hopefully confident enough that I bought a cherry pitter. Just a little handheld gizmo.
