BYC Café

That monstera looks good, it will be huge before long : )
I've been told that I should get a moss stick for it to climb on. I don't know how much bigger it can grow before it needs one.
This indoor plant business is starting to cost money taking into account food, plant pots, compost etc.

Thanks for the coffee. I'd love a second cup.

Chiro appointment today, and any errands I need to do in town. I'm going to look for rhubarb crowns. Yesterday was the first time I've ever eaten rhubarb! I love it! Where has this stuff been all my life?

So now I have to find some to plant in my garden. And wait for it to get big enough to cut some. Well, that's what farmer's markets are for, right? Helping you not eat stuff like rhubarb and asparagus before it gets big enough.

Mmmmm, I adore rhubarb. My parents had a very large patch while we were growing up. We would often gather a bunch of the stalks and cook them down with some honey and ate the sauce. 😋

Good morning Cafe. I brewed a fresh pot.
I had a super fun day yesterday. I finished pressure washing the house and garage and everything looks brand new! I planted my vegetable garden beds and all my flower pots except the coop, ran the dogs, did shopping and lots of other puttering things.
Today I'm going to mulch the front of the house and the garden beds. And move the rest of that poplar if the neighbor cuts it up for me.

HOT here, mid/high eighties yesterday and headed that way until Sat.
I hate the heat, it wipes me out and no AC in house for respite/relief.
I did rouse myself to get the shade cloth up to help the coop,
and put up another shade on the east coop window this morning.

Pic from 2014, cloth is now greenish but whole and attachment system still works slick.

How did you prepare it?
I asked my neighbor for one stalk, since I had no idea if I'd like it. I cut it into half inch pieces, put it in a small sauce pan with about 1/4 cup water and 2 teaspoons of sugar. I simmered it until tender, waited for it to cool. Tasted it, and ate it all the way it was. Delicious! I can see making sauce for over pancakes, jam, crumble... yum.

I just got back from my chiro appointment and I bought two rhubarb plants on the way home. I'm thinking about where to put them in the garden. I have a place where there are a couple of BIG rocks about 8-12" down. The might go in that corner with some strawberry plants.

You go, girl! That's my idea of a fun day too. Puttering around, getting stuff done, and enjoying the results. :)
