Where and how big is your settling tank?

Settling tank is a 55 gallon food grade drum I buried.
The 4" PVC line from the bottom drain goes under the pond and enters the tank about 8" above the bottom.
There is a sludge pump in the center of the tank for when I want to drain it. There is a rope I draped over the green foam covered inlet pipe to pull the pump out in the winter.
The external pump is obviously installed with unions so I can pull it out for winter.
The BD has an air bladder to push an air column up to promote flow towards the drain and it helps oxygenate the water.
The biological filter in the Helix also has a column of air to really promote bacterial growth.

When I went out to clean the boards this afternoon, some of the hens came in to wait for the raisin doll out. When I reached down to grab the bucket I saw fresh bright red blood. Lots of blood. All over the shavings.
I thought maybe butthead had broken off part of a spur because he flogged my wheel barrow the day before but everything looked fine on him. It took a while to find her but Mallory, daughter of said butthead, broke the nail off the fifth toe on her right foot and it was dripping all over. OUCH! I grabbed her and put a dab of Blukote on it and she didn't so much as flinch.
When I finished up with her and shut the coop door, I glanced over and saw that one of the mid-sized Barnevelders was on the other side of the electric netting walking between the fence and the moat. I turned off the fence and herded her back in through the gate. Numbskull.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I passed out yesterday around 2 and didn't wake up until 5!! I managed to get my load of mulch, mow the lawn and load a cabinet I need to get finished on the sides but that's it. I was afraid that long nap would affect my sleep last night. It didn't. I guess I needed it.

I spent a lot of time leveling the spot where the bee hive will go, shifting cinder blocks. My back thinks a nap sounds wonderful.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! We have the farrier coming in this morning before the storm hits. "They" have reduced the snow totals to a little over a foot for us, but we shall see. I have trust issues...

Not really. I was more looking to disinfect it.
She was running around today without a care in the world. The bleeding stopped on it's own.
