I gathered just about 10 dozen eggs today.

8-0 Geez!! How many pullets do you have!?
I assume pullets because they are still laying.

We've been down as low as 41° and I still have my roost level windows open wide. No one has complained yet.

Dipped into the 30's one night here, clicked on the water heater.
Had a couple of very windy days, they stayed away from the roost window.

Good morning, all coffee is warm the office I'm at has coffee, tee and a fresh ground coffee, expresso machine. It's clear and 41 here, love cool weather. Sadly still I have training pretty much my first week, learning rules and regulations especially since we have international companies. I must have read over 300 pages of does and don'ts LOL.

Have a question I see some of you have a note below your posts, how and where do you this?

Good morning ,Cafe! Thanks for the coffee. It is back to the Winter prep after days of goofing off. Oh well.

I don't know. 15 RIR pullets that started off laying large eggs. Never have I seen that before. Then there's around 40+ Delaware hens and 20 something RIR Hens. 7 Bresse pullets, 8 Dark Cornish pullets, 11 White Giant pullets, and a few soon to be hens at the end of this month Cornish X Rock hens. Then there's a gone wild few out and a bout. My adding machine in the gray matter is out of kilter but that is about what I think have.

My RIR hens slowed way down for about 2 weeks and then they took off again. The Delaware hens are slowly getting up to speed. The Cornish X are still slacking mostly. When they do lay their duck sized eggs they make up for some of it.

Then there's around 40+ Delaware hens and 20 something RIR Hens.

So these birds are over 12 months old?
FYI-PSA.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.
Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.
Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).
Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

Hello, Cafe’!
I’m enjoying my first day of our fall break (teachers’ workshop today, state education association convention tomorrow and Friday). I’m not a teacher so I don’t have to attend any of these things. Brought Grandson home with me after school yesterday for a sleepover and his own special day today. We’ve played Legos, roasted marshmallows over the (gas) burner on the stove for s’mores, and enjoyed popcorn and a movie by the fire in the basement. Now we’re waiting for Grandpa to get back from town so we can ride with him in the combine until the truck gets full again. Tomorrow night is Granddaughter’s turn to sleep over.
