Savannah had her first day in the clink.
I went out to see if she needed any more food and her bowl was full of poop. She needs to work that out.

I can finally see the bottom of the pond. One lonely little lily pad is up but lots more on the way.

Bog filter on the right, new stream coming in from the left.

I found that piece of drift wood that is over the Helix moving bed filter in the creek after one of the recent minor flooding events. And the piece that's in the stream.

The weeping larch I got for $50. I love that little tree. It's a deciduous conifer.

The marsh marigold is always the first to bloom. But everything is growing well.

At this point, the pond is 99% done. I just have to divide a few plants, put some in the bog and the rest in pots filled with pea stone then secure the pots with black nylon cord so no one falls in the pond again.

Love the pond, DL! I feel like I could just park myself next to it and watch the fish and other life for a few hours.

Strawberries. I’m hoping to get a raised strawberry bed built and planted this year. Kneeling and bending to pull weeds is getting to be too hard.

Hi Cafe! Another busy week in the books - I was at a few meetings and then had semester grading deadlines.

Was on the ferry to Vancouver Island this past Wednesday and stumbled upon a family of killer whales I know while we were navigating a pass!

They forecast rain around 1-2pm here, and then possibly severe storms around 4-10pm.

I just read this about autumn olive:

"The fruit and seeds are both edible. I have made jam, syrup, and even fruit leather without bothering to strain out the seeds. Try them raw, they really do taste great. Another reason to harvest as many autumn olive berries as possible is to help halt their spread."

I think I'll try that this year.
