BYC Café

Hello Cafe’!
I hope you’re all well. I’m just sitting here waiting for my orthopedist to show up. I’ve had some pain in my left hip area and some swelling in my lower left leg. After an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot, an X-ray to check the integrity of my fake hip, and CT scan to figure out what the “mass” that was seen on ultrasound is last week, it was determined that I have a 10 cm fluid pocket around my iliopsoal tendon, indicating possible tendinitis or bursitis. My PCP said, “I’ve never seen this. I’d like to refer you to ortho and have them take a look at it.” So here I sit, as he’s just finishing up a surgery. It will be interesting to see what he has to say. Today is the worst swelling I’ve seen in my foot. It kinda looks like a flesh colored brick with toes

Well, that wasn’t a terribly productive appointment. Basically he said, “Huh. That’s interesting. Bursitis makes sense. Keep taking your anti-inflammatory, don’t do the stuff that bothers it, wear a compression stocking for the swelling if you have one, and come back in two weeks. If there isn’t any resolution by then, we’ll dig deeper.”I guess that’s better than, “Oh. That’s not good at all…”

she must have been one of the ones who stopped laying back in June/July.
Same here! Little stopped laying in June, and had a slow molt. She's now laying again. I can be sure they're her eggs, as no one else in my flock lays eggs that are, ahem, 44-49 grams! I should not have named her Little!

I have two "just turned hens" (in May) and a 3 year old still laying. And Little, who is 4 and a half now.

The rest are on hiatus. Some are molting and some are MOLTING!!!

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

Well it looks like that tiny little sliver I found two days ago must have been what was left over after the one that caused the swelling was expelled.
This is what I pulled out of the top section of the eye swelling this morning. It's a bit over 1/2" long. I was about to do another hot compress when I saw it sticking out from the skin.

I think it's all out now. Hopefully with the last of it out she won't develop an infection. She finishes her cephalexin today.
