BYC Café

Fabio is doing well this morning?
He is. Normal poops on the board and struggling when I plucked him from the roost instead of just letting me do it. I'd love to see him recover to the point of having a go at me. It's chick season after all.
This morning all is normal. Very high winds yesterday may have blown a tree down in the 'way back', and that may have spooked her.
That's given Bella trauma too.

Good Morning Everyone,

I am so glad to hear that Fabio is better ❤️

I am making coffee now, the morning is colder here, ...we are in autumn after all and I am loving this cold weather.

This morning, new chicken drama so I created a thread to rant about it. I think it is time I do that as I have so much chicken dramas. I did not have this much drama when I had a rooster. I am thinking that in a few years time when my flock reduced in size, I will let some of my broody hens hatch eggs and keep 1 rooster. It has to be a Pekin bantam because my area does not allow rooster. A Pekin bantam rooster is not so loud as I saw on youtube.

Coffee is ready☕

Have a lovely day everyone

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Much cooler today after a late afternoon and night of thunderstorms, some with torrential downpours. Today the plan is to get loads of sawdust, wood chips and leaf compost to layer into the garden beds. Yes, HTG is still helping me so I will not over do it with my back. He keeps me in line.
We have about 12.5 yards of volume to fill.

That is a lot to fill, DL! Be good to your back. And knees. And hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists... you know the whole routine.

Congratulations, Fabio.
We already have about 1/3 of the beds filled with logs, stumps and shavings from his chain saw.
I hope it takes all dang day! I'm thoroughly enjoying spending time with HTG.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I have another busy day planned. Need to finish cleaning the coop before the chicks arrive, I want to get the garden beds filled and I need to get feed.

Tuesday HTG smashed the tip of his middle finger between 2 huge logs and nearly blacked out in my kitchen when he was running the finger under cold water while holding ice to it. He ended up laying face down on my kitchen floor with me rubbing ice on the back of his neck and arms while Piper kept play bowing him because he was clearly down there for her. I kept trying to get him to let me take him to a walk-in to open a hole in the nail to let the blood out but he didn't want to go.

Yesterday, right after he left, I laid open the same finger of the same hand he injured by slicing the knuckle on the edge of the metal roofing panels that make the sides of the beds. (That being said, if I type some really weird crap, you know why!)

I texted him and told him what I'd done. About 30 minutes later, he showed back up at my house! Just wanted to be sure I was really okay. Then we kept bantering about this and that. I told him I thought I had enough material to fill the beds to within an inch or two of the tops. He said I'd be short a bed. The bet is now on. Whoever wins takes the other out for a frozen custard! So, we both win!!
