BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

With yesterday being so warm and many of my girls panting at roost time, I thought it would be a great time for 'old gal booty' baths. 8 hens got run through the butt wash bucket. The first was Jody because she's broody as all get out and I just wanted her wet when she went into the clink.
Every gal that had a soak went back on the roost dripping wet with the fan blowing across them. None of them complained.
Spurred girls also got a trim.
I've been far more interactive with my flock these last few months than I've been in years. Another little sign I'm getting better.
Tonight I think I'll trim fluff feathers.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee!
48F here with clouds and some rain that is supposed to be in the afternoon. It is a nice change from the heat.
DH and I will be celebrating the big 40, so we went out and bought a new bed set. The old mattress was ridiculously uncomfortable for both of us and it just so happens that our DIL works at a high-end mattress company.
Sweet deal how that worked out!
Enjoy the day, Cafe!

Wow! Congratulations! I suppose you will celebrate by breaking in that new mattress. ;)

I got the ball rolling on getting the car fixed or totaled. At first glance, we were pretty sure it would be totaled, but hubby looked a little closer and thinks.... maybe not...? We had it towed to a local collision repair shop. I'm waiting to find out what they think.

Everyone I talked to -- insurance agent, claims person, repair place -- was very nice and helpful. Yeah, I know, I've already paid the insurance company beaucoup bucks, so they should be nice. But it is a much easier process when they are pleasant, glad you're ok, and walk you through step-by-step what you need to do and who you need to call.

Hello Cafe’! It’s been a while. I’ve just started week 3 of cooking at the little Bible camp I’m a part of. This is our youngest week. We have 43 littles going into grades 2-5 and 26 staff members. Our season ends after this week.

I read the news about aart this evening. How sad! It hits hard. I always enjoyed her posts and found her to be very educational. She will be missed.

Have a great rest of your week, everyone!

Good morning Café!

I brought a fresh pot to share while I am having breakfast with my favourite rooster

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Good morning Cafè and thanks for the coffee LF.
This heat is brutal. We hit 97 yesterday and it's supposed to be hotter today. I took ice berry muffins out to them 3 times and ice pea muffins once. Them never having had peas not in a pod before, were not fans of the peas. I also did afternoon and evening belly dunks. A bird would be panting on the roost when I took her out and closed beak and more relaxed when I put her back.
Two more days of this and we should be through the worst.
I'm not going to explain to anyone why I'm working twice as long as home today than usual. I object l intend to leave the plant at 11:30 instead of 2:30 today and tomorrow.
