BYC Café

Savannah is insane and my entire flock is conspiring against me!
When I got home from work and went out to clean the coop I saw Savannah sitting in the right nest box. I didn't think much of it. Maybe she was late laying her egg.
When I went to lock up there she still was with every single solitary egg the hens laid underneath her!!! And take a wild guess who was screeching, puffing up and growling at me when I reached in to grab her?
She's out of her friggin mind! I already have at least five cockerels to rehome and 8 more chicks on the way.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

I was up way past my bedtime last night and I still snap awake at 5:30. I'll be needing a nap later.
It is remarkably cooler outside now that the heat wave has broken but it looks like we're going to get rain. But I haven't run the dogs in 3 days and now I'm exhausted. But at least it was for a very good cause.

Hubby is going to a tractor show today. He's going tomorrow too, with his former (and sometimes still) boss, Dan. Dan collects old tractors and restores them. July 4th, 2024, he got them out of his barn and had them in his yard. Hubby took pictures of them.

This isn't all of them.

He said it took 3 or 4 days to move them all, as he only has 8 batteries.

Wow! They all look to be a similar model from the same manufacturer.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
Wow, that is a lot of tractors!
I think today is a pull juniper day before the rains start up or maybe finish splitting the stack of wood. I guess I will see if DS$ is hanging out this wkend. He really likes dealing with the chipper and the chainsaws. It is a good workout, he says...
Really? LOL!
Enjoy the day, Cafe!

Good afternoon!

I brought a fresh pot to share needing a little break after cleaning all the coops etc. :caf

Around here it feels more like late summer/ early autumn, nature seems more ahead of our human calender with every passing year.
Several hens already molting and others have not resumed laying after their usually short break in June.
Well, but we always have good use for chicken soup and winter is only a few more weeks/ months from now.

Good Morning,

Having my first cup of tea now, colder this morning than yesterday.

We had big heavy rain last night,..we are in the middle of winter here and it is starting to look like we are heading into spring quite soon.

For my state being Queensland, we are known to have lot of storms in spring season. High humidity hot weather for a week and here come strong wind and storm, and hail storm throw in for excitement.

In my state, insurance specifically target us to cover storm. When spring season about to arrive, the advertisement on tv be saying for Queensland only....storm cover...then the video of storm, hail, strong wind, big tree falling on house, dog, cat, human run for cover. I might ask them to put chickens in that adv too.

I have 10 bales of sugar cane mulch, I am settled that I have sufficient supply for the storm season to come.

I think Savannah likes big family, she is doing her best to build her big family. Have a good nap DL.

I often fall asleep on the couch, wake up at 2am, but not able to sleep again. This really mess up my energy.

Have a great day all.
