We just got back from my neighbor's Celebration of Life. A few weeks before she passed, she told me she wanted a gathering in a park, with games for the kids, and an ice cream truck. This is exactly what it was. It was lovely. I was so happy to see so many people there. Jamie touched a lot of lives.

Last night was the first night this year I forgot to lock up. Savannah's kids thought that was just fine. They were all over the pen exploring. I think one of the boys had been up on the run roof.

Good Morning,

It is 5:30am Saturday morning over here and just simply cold.

Kettle is boiling now...
I am driving out to the poultry market early this morning. I have never been to a poultry market so I must go to get it out of my mind. The strategy is when I get home - park my car outside, hose it down from top to bottom, clean my shoes, shower & laundry the clothes I wear to the market. This way, I reduce the risk of anything from the market to my feather kids.

2 of my hens are getting ready to return to laying egg again after many months of rest. They get very needy, wanting to be hug all the times, they take turn jump on me and sit with their head between my side and arm or under neck and shoulder. I sit with them for what seems to be a long time, and throughout the day whenever they see me they want hug again.

I feel love that they need me, but I am also very sad that I do not have a hen/rooster to support them. I used to have a hen that was very supportive of her flock, the rooster took over this role after she was gone. The rooster dug up a little nesting for my first time layer hen, she was not happy, he sat in it to show her, then dug it again and again until she finally laid her egg there. These 2 hens so need support, each of them have no friend at all. I must hurry back from the market to be with them.

One good thing about having my daughter's dogs here - I never need to wonder where I left my slippers, sneakers, shoes, or boots. I can fine all of them in Tootsie's bed.
