BYC Café

:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugsFor Bella.

:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs For you, DL.
This kind of thing is why I designed the house the way I did. It is frustrating, yes, but very easy to clean up after her. Both of her beds are waterproof and so is my floor. Her diet leaves firm, dry stool that is easy to clean as well. But I am going through sanitizing spray and paper towels like nobody's business! Buy stock in them now and you will be rich soon.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

We made it through one whole day without an accident. I cringe to think what it's going to be like when I'm gone for 3 weeks in February. C is going to have to go full on adult and PAY ATTENTION to Bella and put her out regularly. When he's home, he spends 98% of his time in his room with the door closed. That isn't going to cut it if he has to manage her.

can you have a training day before your trip,
You meant to write 'week', not 'day' I'm sure. ;)
Yes.

My brother-in-law tends to be my go-to guy when it comes to making sure things get done correctly. He's a lot like me that way. He likes to do his own stuff and he wants it done right and if you're going to do it with me, do it right or get the hell out of the way. He will be coming up daily to make sure that everything is running smoothly in my absence.

I've been spending most of my morning trying to find housing solutions for my useless nephew. At one point I heard one of my chickens screaming her head off out there. Very distressed. It sounded a lot like one of the bantams when I lock her in the broody breaker. But nobody's locked in the broody breaker!

So I wandered out in my jammies and checked on everybody and most of the flock was hiding under their big shrub with a few stragglers hanging out in the coop. But no one was making a peep. As I was heading back into the house I saw Tink walking around in the landscaping arrangement next to my sun room. The poor little thing looks like a walking pin cushion she's having such a hard mold! And she was extremely upset that she found herself on the wrong side of the poultry netting.

I managed to coax her into standing still long enough for me to gently pick her up and put her back into the pen. She continued with her high alert walk in the pen until she realized she was back where she wanted to be. Poor little girl! Thank goodness I spotted her before putting the dogs back out to go potty.

Going on vacation and leaving our animals is always stressful - we 'know' nobody does things like 'we' do.
That's why I haven't gone anywhere in nearly two years, when my chicken sitter had a heart attack. I don't mind, actually; home is my favorite place to be.

My next door neighbors have chickens. I would never, ever let them be in charge of mine. I told hubby if I went away and had them take care of my birds, it would NOT be a vacation at all. I would be very stressed and worried from the moment we left until we got back.

I think they're losing interest in having chickens, and I hope they don't get more chicks next spring.
