I euthanized my sick hen Mint this afternoon and the massive lash egg`400-500g if not more in her tummy was causing her all ill health. There is no way I can treat her back to health with that massive thing.

We usually don’t have winter anymore, so this winter caught almost everyone by surprise, the roads have been ice sheets for 3 weeks, no one is clearing the roads or sidewalks, the county has been fining all the owners, cos they don’t clear their sidewalks, but no one cares, it is really back breaking labor to hack the ice away ( I can’t do it anymore, either) and you would have to pay a fortune to hire someone, all the companies which usually do stuff like that took the money for the last 9 years and didn’t have to do anything, now, that they should be working around the clock for the last 3 weeks, most still do nothing almost all the gravel is sold out in the hardware stores, I was lucky to bag 2 of the last 50 pound bags, I asked one of the employees if they could load it up in my car ( I would have paid) they said it went against company policy ( insurance) so luckily, I got a customer to help me

You did right by her. The only thing you could do for her at that point was to help her die quickly and end her suffering.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

It's been so cold for so long that my heated water base is having a hard time keeping liquid water for the chickens. I had to bring the reservoir in last night because it was a solid block of ice up at the top. Just one more thing for me to worry about while I'm gone. I have no problem doing the extra work to make sure the birds have something to drink but C is going to have to do this for me while I'm in Asia.
