BYC Coming Across As Spam?

So on receiving notifications, in your case they're blocked, I'm thinking the push notifications. The push notifications come in like a text or email notification on a phone would, but doesn't show the text like an email or text notification might. When you pull down your screen to view notifications, they're there. On a computer, I think they'd come in on the bottom right corner (PC, at least) and be in your side notification bar. Because they're blocked, if you enabled BYC's push notifications, I don't think you'd receive them.
Are you meaning the alerts like this?

I get notified right here in BYC of any likes, comments, quotes, etc., so I pretty much have most emails shut off unless I'm tagged, so at least I wouldn't miss those by mistake.

No, push notifications.

Them on my lock screen:

On my home screen:

Pull down from where I pointed in the above shot, and I get this:

(I did close out some of the extra notifications.)

It's like that on any hand held device I've had. I think it'd look differently on a laptop, and maybe different on an Apple device? My tablet is a Samsung, but it was the same on my Lenovo, just looked a little different being a different brand tablet.

I logged in on my iPad to check, and I don't have anything like that on the home screen or in BYC. Probably because I have notifications blocked.

Unblock your notifications then enable your push notifications.

(Then click "Save." I forgot to circle that. You should get an immediate notification thanking you for enabling them.)

I don't know why I should. They've caused you nothing but problems. What is the advantage? I'm trying to understand this as I've operated this same way for years. Am I missing something? Maybe I'm in the dark about this and I don't even know it. :gig

In my opinion, I don't like them on my laptop, nor do I need them. Same goes for my phone. Because I use my tablet a lot, I do have them there. For me, the advantage is when I get a notification, say, for a thread, I can click on the push notification (without clicking on the on the notifications in BYC or even have Chrome open) and it'll take me right to the post. Then I don't have to click the notification box in BYC and lose the notification number of unread notifications.

Another advantage to me is I get a notification sound every time a push notification comes in, so I can know when someone has posted something or reacted in a PM. Sometimes I won't even be near my tablet, but I'll hear that notification and will know someone posted something.

Those are advantages to me, but that could also just be me. I like having push notifications for BYC, and sometimes I even get excited when I hear one come in. On any device I've had with them on, there are times when they don't all come in, but for the ones that do, I often find them helpful.

(Also, for your nformation, you can have them enabled but shut specific ones off. Like I don't get a push notification when someone reacts to something on my profile, but I still get one in my BYC notifications. I set it up that way because an actual post on my profile needs my attention more than a reaction. I have push notifications on PM reactions because that's the only way I'll get a push notification from a PM, and is the closest thing to letting me know someone has posted in there.)

I thought about it, and remembered why everything is off in this office, including my phone, Alexa, iPad, and my computer...I type asylum hearings, and too often I would hear the ding and look at my phone or iPad or computer. That's an interruption and was giving me a headache, so I had researched how to silence my world around me, several years ago. Granted, some were social media, but I had 'em all. Every text, every like, every reply, every time Alexa thought she found what I needed on Amazon, etc.

Once I found out how to shut everything off, I did it for everything. I figure, when I take a break, I'll log into BYC, or check my phone. The notifications are there, and I'll see them on my terms.

I have an app so my phone calls and texts pop up on my computer, and I can glance to see if it's something I should answer.

That makes sense. I can see why you have it like that. There's times I probably should have everything off, especially when I'm trying to do something important like writing. Thankfully, I do have certain hours where everything is off, but that's typically late in the evening (when I should be going to bed), and in the morning before 11 am.
