Regarding the new thread options....I don't like change either and am the one that says don't change it if it isnt broken....I think maybe it is a bit broken with all the new projects getting lumped into one area. The new opprtunities that will open might be huge...Shanah started the adoption thread and had two new people want to join in the crochet that have been on the forum for quite awhile...they joined her thread in an hour!!!!! Think of what might happen if a babyghan square thread is started? Imagine the new people with that title line on the thread. Think of the critter swap (amigurumi) and how many people may care nothing about granny squares but might jump in on that swap? I have been a bit tunnel visioned before and think this might be a huge opportunity for us to grow. Your choices would be broader for your personal crochet likes/dislikes....I would probably not post on the critter thread as I care not a flip for making that amig... but I would stay in the granny square swap thread which would continue to be like a home base with the rotating swaps. The secret santa idea we can decide on next year whether we would open that to the entire forum or not, if so, it would need a sep. thread, if not, it could stay in the swap thread. Let's just give a trial run to these shoot off threads and see if they catch fire, if not, this one is still thriving.
When Shanah mentioned a "lists" thread it just seemed the time to think about spreading some of this out a bit...espcially with her being able to recruit 2 new people so quickly just with one new thread. We still have the security and "sameness" of this thread so only a teeny little change...let's see if we get new people joining us with the babyghan and the critter and the adopt a new member threads.....

Sign-Ups are now Open!

Theme: "Anything Goes" Feel free to experiment and challenge your skills for this swap! Hexagons, Circles, Squares, Triangles, or "Other" crocheted shapes are all welcomed!! (No amigurumi in this swap.)

Color: Any! Mix it up or stay the same, up to you!

Size: 6" minimum - 12" maximum. Try to be consistent though, for example, all of your squares should be pretty near the same size, all of your circles should be pretty near the same size....

Pattern: Any! Feel free to mix up your patterns and make every square different or every hexagon different, or all the same, up to you!

Number: As many as there are participants in the swap.

Dates: Chat and gab and get to know one another in this thread. Post as often as you like! Official sign-up opens on February 1, 2009 and Closes on March 1, 2009. All items are due to me no later than May 1, 2009.

New folks are encouraged to visit with us here in this thread and post and get to know us! Chickens are not required, in fact several members of this group are not chicken owners! We are always happy to have new friends here in the crochet club! We'd love to have you join the fun, join the swap or any other projects that we have going on!!!!

When you have finished your Shapes, send me a pm and I'll send you my address so that you can mail in your work.

I've got another guy for us in the Adoption thread. Please check out that thread so that he can be adopted, as well as anyone else who wants a buddy. The adoption thread seems to be attracting people who want to learn more about crocheting and might have been doing it for ages, but only know one stitch.

Please help them out. I only really have Karan, Queen Scoot and SE to help there so far. We have more in need and more who could help better than I can with teaching crochet...

Em, your doily and arm bag are soooo nice!! That crochet thread is just too small for me to get excited about working with! Really works up pretty though! Good job

I'll be glad when Maw's husband gets employed so sh can get off restcition and use the computer more, lol!!! WOnder what she tells him when he asks about the hanging rope she is crocheting??!!!

Unless she changes her mind, she was theone rolling out the critter swap so maybe Amy or someone else not so obligated already might send her a pm and see if she needs help with that?

Where is Skand???? Have to wonder if Texas was abducted by UFOs if she isn't posting!!

I am using some vacation this week, whoo hooo!! Finishing my Christmas crafts, toasted pecans yesterday, making piles of jerky today (if Wildsky were my neighbor that would be all gone in a flash!! She is a jerky eating fiend!!). Have my crochet projects finihsed and all my work ones given out last week..went over very well too, the sopas, the wash cloths, the record bowls...all went over well. DD comes home today for a bit, that will be nice, working on an afghan for the bed she vacated here! Half through with that. SHopping all done, chicken pen is clean, house is not too dirty = nice easy week off for me, lol!!! Yeah!!! I'll check in later...drop over to the adopt a hooker partner thread today and check out Professor Rocket's work...

think my alarm went off too early this morning..
Alyssa has PT this morning, then I'll drop her off at school, and threaten to leave Caydence somewhere along the way.
If only I could run over Jim in the van and have noone notice...

We might get Christmas decorations out today. It's hard to figure out best time to do it, I was raised that since my b-day is the 5th, decorations went up after my bday, now with Caydence being the 17th, I want her to have her bday, without worryin bout Christmas. I mean, it stinks when your present comes wrapped in holiday paper!!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR its 4 degrees here with the windchill below 0!!!!!!!!!!!!! we got hit with ice and snow and more on the way...no school for the teens today as it is closed due to the weather!! UGH!! LOL

i plan on spending the day hooking...have a round ripple that i need to finish 3 more hats.....and then on to a new prject. dont know what that will be but im sure i'll find something in my long list of to do projects!!

WOW! I thought I was keeping up reading this thread, even tho I don't post often. However, the last time I was online, you were at page 383 and today, 409! Wow! Will have to read a lot to catch up.

We have 3 degrees with a windchill of 17 below zero, and winds up to 25 mph. School isn't closed but I am keeping Hannah home anyway. We're going to make soap. I can't work on most of my crochet projects as they are for her Christmas presents.

Em, was meaning to say that doily is gorgeous and the cell phone/change purse is very nice. I am keeping a list of practical things I should really start making.

Morning all, it's very very COLD here 1 degree have no idea what wind chill is besides Icie Burrrrr
They still had School yeah.......

I'm up, I have been up and down most of the night.... got one of those times when feel ya gota go but not really go just the urge.... uuugggghhhh. geesshhh not gona get much done at work if I have ta go potting every 20 minutes...

Well gals as I said I will be asking for some guideance to start the Babyghan Send off thread.. Will start it after the Holidays...
