I have a 3 year old granddaughter that still takes her shoes & socks off as soon as she gets to grammas & papas! She was the darndest (is that a word, lol) kid, as soon as she got in the vehicle...DEAD of winter & off came the boots
barnie.gif
. We also have a 18 month old granddaughter that is not a fan of them, but will leave them on in the vehicle!

Been raining most of the afternoon here. Didn't have to babysit today, so I napped most of it away.

SECRET SANTA PROJECT!!! SIGN-UP OPEN!

Please do not feel obligated just because you belong to the crochet swap! NO OBLIGATION!!!
thchristmas9.gif

Rules:Sign - Up Closes: November 15th

Secret Santa Items: Must be a HANDMADE item of reasonable cost or investment. For example .... if I were to crochet a long scarf out of nice yarn and add a spider ornament to that, I would think that would be a nice gift...if I made a record bowl with the crocheted washcloths and the music cd and music soap like I plan to make for my co-workers, that would seem like a nice gift to me too...you all are talented and what you make does not need to cost much, just be thoughtful about it and it will mean the world to whoever gets it, I'm sure

thchristmas8.gif

Santa Assignment: On November 16th, every person on the list will be sent the name of their "secret" person. Please do not reveal which name you have!!! It is a "SECRET"!!! I will send you the name and address of your "secret" person and you will be required to make them something and have it shipped to them no later than December 15th. Only after or during shipping are you to reveal to the person that you are their Secret Santa!!

How to sign up: Send me a pm with your name and address and you will be added to the list. Only myself and the person you are assigned to will be given your name and address.
thchristmas13.gif

No Chicks my grandaughter takes her shoes and socks off in the car too. We have to put on before we go in each store.
Scoot sent me a pattern for slippers for the little one so I'm gonna go find some yarn in my stash now , thanks again My Queen and your interlocking circles are awesome

Just checking in,....

I have been really busy... For some reason, everything has been happening all at once... I've had to take 6 "compliance courses", do a few performance appraisals, and have had to brief a couple of distingushed visitors... I don't know if I mentioned this, but, I was coined by the new Secretary of the Air Force (Secretary Donely), and also by the CenTAF CINC, General North... Great coins to own, since I collect them.

In a few days, I have another opportunity to meet with the Chief of Staff, Air Force.. so that will be exciting as well.

Temps are finally starting to drop off abit, making the walk to work almost pleasant. (I work midnight to noon) The noon walk back still is hot...

Got out my absentee vote off, and sent off 3 cards to my granddaughters wishing them a Happy Holloween. (I had sent them Ichiban bento boxes, but the girls met the postman before mom did, so, my Halloween presents were opened a week or so ago.. once the gilrs saw the postman had a box, they knew it was from me. They begged their mom to open it, and was so exicted... they took them to school the very next day!)

My church (St John the Divine, Greek Orthodox Church), back home in Jacksonville, sent in several boxes for Troy's, which will tie us over till new donations arrive. We haven't had anything come in for a few weeks now, so, my prayers were answered. Things were looking pretty slim...but, we made the best of it. The Red Cross on base helped out, with Girl Scout cookies they had, and some comfort kits.. which I took apart so people took only what they needed.

Anyway, I hope this post finds everyone well..and happy!

athena I am totally working on a big package to send to troys place I am having the 4-H kids help with it so it might be a week or two more before it gets off to you. but should have a ton of stuff for ya'll

Skand, just feel free to jump in this thread and make yourself at home, Shanah is right..warm and fuzzy, great group here.

Athena, how wonderful that a big box arrived!! I have some things in a pile and will get them mailed off before December. I bought one of those Bento boxes too, very, very cute!!! Haven't used it yet and want everything on that dollar page Guitarists listed with the Bento boxes...all that stuff is a dollar and cute as can be.. here's the site... http://www.ichibankanusa.com/ go crazy!!! lol!!

Purr, so nice to see you posting regularly again!!! Amy..that book ...my bad...is titled 99 Granny Squares To Crochet by Leisure Arts..isbn # 1-57486-653-2 it's only 58 notebook sized pages but alot of pictures and good directions. The hexagon I made with the clusters is number 52 but I have about 30 of the pages dog-earred for great looking squares and hexagons to make! The book was cheap, can't remember how much but seems like around 5 bucks or so, paperback. Worth it!!

How are the squares going everyone? Nearing completion?

How is the recruiting going? Asking yor family and friends if they want to join our group? You can add the croceht thread to your signature lines and everywhere you go on this forum people will see the link, that helps to bring people off the forum here ..the new ones anyway, imagine the older ones have heard all our noise before, lol!

Good Morning!!!!!
smile.png

It's been busy here on my end. Just wanted to check in & tell everyone Hi!!!!!
frow.gif
I'm still alive and no aliens proded.

The "Closet Girl Scout" had a blast at their Halloween Party at my house on Fri night. I somehow inherited 4 of them to spend the night.
roll.png
I had to wake the sleepy heads up and drag them to dd soccer game with me the next morn. They carved pumpkins, roasted hotdogs, ate a lot, gossiped, spilled crumbs all over my clean house, & watched The Nightmare Before X-mas. I think there is still pumpkin goo on the back deck I need to clean, unless Napoleon the roo ate it.
lau.gif
Man, these girls can eat!!!!!!
gig.gif
These teenagers are sooo funny. They love doing all the GS stuff, but don't you dare mention in school that they still belong to GS. LOL!!!!!

I still have squares to finish, knot, and weave tails in, but it will get done before the deadline. The sunflower pattern actually works up pretty quick once I memorized the pattern.
tongue.png
I think just as quick as the traditional granny. We have to send 32..right????
idunno.gif

How does everyone knot & weave???? I think for the last swap I knoted and snipped.

Queen Scoot~I love your square and connected circle. Those circles are sooo cool. Whatcha gonna do with them?

WELCOME SKAND!!!!!!
welcome-byc.gif

Athena what kind of GS cookies ship well? I remember my sis telling me not to send chocalate, but the weather is getting cooler. I bet you could use some Thin Mints. Yummmm!!!!!!!

I had to laugh when I read about the socks being taken off.
gig.gif
My Dd has a sock fetish and still takes them off all over the place. It's like an easter egg hunt come laundry time looking for the un-matched pairs all over the house & in the car. They will be on her floor, lost in her bed sheets, tucked in the recliner, the folds of the couch, the car, the guest bedroom. No telling....I find them every where. She's 15 yrs old and not a toddler!!!!!
barnie.gif
Pwew stinky if it's the soccer gear.
sickbyc.gif
It drives me crazy, b/c I'm a fanatic about having all the matches, but she messes with me and wears mix matches socks all the time.
smack.gif
I just did a huge load of socks and can't find some of her matches. So I think they are still lost or clean in her drawer.
rant.gif

I still have pages to read, but will check in later. We have more family company in town and more coming on Fri, so more cleaning.....the never ending job.
fl.gif

Everyone have a great day!!!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I'm still in the learning how stages, wanting to learn lots more patterns then the 2 I do know. BTW, if you take on the task to try to teach me, keep in mind, patience is a very big virtue!!
I shall try to get a pic of the afghan I've finished, (took 6 years for a twin size), and one of the in progress, (so far 1 month into it and it's accidently turned into a king size, for my almost 4 year old)
