LOL we just started taking it seriously this summer. We got the leghorn last year's dyed Easter chick, then I had to find him a girlfriend, then the size of a bag of feed didn't make it worthwhile to only have 2 chickens, and only 1 egg a day. SO we got more, but only kept 2, handheld and stoogie. Then this summer, we got some and thought about selling chicks for easter. Well, when people kept coming and buying, and asking for more....it took off! Minus the cost of feed, about 150 a month, and the cost of pens, supplies, and meds just in case... October we made about $400, november, $300 and so far december..$241 .....We're not making much, just enough to be able to enjoy them.
Next year, crossing fingers, We'll actually see a turn around, since having the pens already, and having more chickens "putting out better" lmaooooo

Oh and also to add to our output next year....
Our peafowl , golden and ringneck pheasants, and the guineas will all start laying come spring time.
So far, if I took everyone around here that has seen our peafowl and tried talking me into taking prepaid orders, I would have already sold 40 very baby peacocks!

But you figure, pheasants will produce about 40 viable eggs, so we're guessing I will get 80 eggs, 75 will hatch.. at $10 a piece...
Guinea fowl, we have 12, so we'll say 6 are female.... say they lay 20 eggs apiece... so that's 120 eggs... 100 hatch... $6 a piece...
Peafowl... 14 eggs.. 11 hatch... we let them get big enough to sell as mating pairs... $200 a pair...
lol next year's gonna be fun! hehehe

Holy Cats Skand! I love it! I would do that if we had our own place.

OMG - I LOVE the tree! And the dishcloth, and everything!! When you find the tree pattern, please do send it - I'd love to try my hand at making that!!
I found a stocking pattern that I'll post if I can figure out how w/o having to retype the whole thing. It's from a 1980-something magazine that I found in the auction stuff I brought home.
Ya'll have a great night - and for those w/kids in school, we only have 7 days left! Yeah!!!

Wow. I've been coming here every day lately to try to catch up with the posts when Im not too busy with other stuff. I love seeing all the great stuff you are crocheting........ Mittens and blankets, and Christmas trees, Oh My! Everything is lovely.

All your nice projects have inspired me to dig up a crochet hook and some yarn and start something.

My last crochet project was a little hoodie parka for my nephlet last spring.
(My "nephlet" is my nephew's son)
