Happy New YEAR!!!!! I hope you ALL get feeling better!! I can no longer keep up... but... GOOD NEWS!!! We may gett faster internet! Then I CAN read the posts!!!

I am working on a little afghan for a boy, if anyone needs a quick gift! I don't know anyone expecting!! I had to try the pattern, though....

Take care, my chickies!!

Nancy

I am using a J on the cotton Okie. And it really is more even and neater than this picture looks, the cotton holds it's shape really well and still it's soft. I like working with it and will be maing some more washcloths with it this year, mostly I used white for that last year though, might use the colored cotton for dishcloths this year and I do have that whimsical potholder pattern book that has a chicken in it, need to try that too!..maybe at some point we can have a potholder or dish cloth swap, lol!!

..It's a made up pattern but this is it....
chain 160
(between the ** this will be the same set at the end of the aghan) **dc in yellow the first row
3 & 4 hdc in mardi gras
5 dc in sunburst
6 dc in yellow
7dc in m.g.
8 hdc in sunburst
9 dc in yellow
10 & 11 hdc in m.g.
12 dc in yellow**(this whole sequence will be repeated at the end)
13 - 19 V stitch in m.g.
20 hdc in yellow
21 - 27 hdc in sunburst
28 hdc in yellow
30 - 36 V stitch in sunburst
37 hdc in yellow
38 - 44 hdc in m.g.
45 hdc in yellow
46 - 52 V stitch in m.g.
53 hdc in yellow
54 - 60 repeat sequence of 21 - 53 & so on until the last "set" of 1 - 12. Hope that isn't clear as mud!!! Nice easy stitches to watch tv and crochet by and still shows off the LOUD veriagated pattern and balances some with the solid hdcs...of course it's made up so change it however you want. At the place the picture is now I just began my third roll of each so I would guesstimate an afghan being maybe 9 skiens of each? Hook on!!

Just thought I would show you the attempts at making afghans for my daughter that I thought she would like..instead they live in a plastic bag in my closet hoping she will appreciate them in her older years, lol!! Her school colors are red, white and some black. The red velour one cost me a small fortune to make, that velour yarn is VERY pricey and the pattern was tedious, did she like it..NOPE! The one with fur has homespun yarn in it and turned out nice with the color contrast I thought, did she like it, NOPE!! Instead she wants hideous orange and green and yellow, go figure!!!

I'll take them SE! hehehe
My cousin, Heather did the same thing to my er our grandma. Grandma started making all the grandkids, there's something like 32 of us, a graduation/wedding afghan for us. Well Heather decided she didn't want a normal set of colors, instead she wanted seafoam green and peach. My grandma was sure it was the most putrid color combination of all time. When she got all finished with it, spread it out on a bed, it looked really good.

Things are settling down here. I am still sick with this blasted cold, but I miss you guys too much to stay away for long.

I love everyone's lovely work. All those afghans are very pretty SE. I need to make one that's nice and cuddly since we are keeping our heat down...but it's going to take me til next winter.

Might have to purchase a cheap throw to tide me over or something....

Hope everyone is well and 2009 is continuing to look fine. Good to hear from new and veteran visitors. How are our gents doing? Shmooborp? How's the hooking?

I am off to the coop chores. This weekend we build the Porch Pen for the crazies currently residing in my living room. Time to get the dust out of my house once and for all. (and make room for planning what to do with my incubator.)

SE those are BEAUTYIFUL !!!! WOW I would take them any day!! They look so soft and warm and wonderful

Thanks for the complement the bag holder was something I really had study over to do I put it together of my own, I used a pattern I found for the bag holder itself and then figured out how to do the chicken on my own, so let me try to research my memory banks and see if I can get it put down. Then I will get back with ya on it.
Here is a photo I took before I packed everything up.
