OK for anyone that was interested this is how I marked my granny squares for the last swap.

I just printed a contact page of my avatar w/ 4 pics across and 6 rows of pics, so it filled the page w/ 24 pics.

Then I just cut the pic w/ decorative edge scissors, punched a hole in the corner of the pic, and tied it to the corner of the granny square. WaaaLaaaa..instant marker. Very quick & easy! I'm not sure how I'll mark them for the Fall SWAP.

Here's a few of my Sunflower Granny Squares. I finally figured out how to read the dang crochet lingo. Boy, I was really hating that pattern for a while. The pattern made a 4" square, so I just added a few more rounds to make it 6".
I don't like the blue yarn b/c it's thinner and curls up, so I may go out and buy a heavier weighted one to use for the swap.

Question on size of swap blocks.

Now, on quilt blocks, which I have swapped the bejeebers out of, blocks are 6.5 inches "unfinished" which translates to 6 inchies "finished"

The pattern I picked for these Granny Squares to swap, the pattern says 6 inches finished. Now, I just made my first block. Mind you, I never have an issue with guage and it's alway "on" with other patterns. But my block is measuring nearly 6.5 inches.

Does the "finished" and "unfinished" rule apply on crocheted blocks???

Hey Amy! They really should be pretty close to the 6"..last time there were alot of very different sizes and they are just too hard to connect together if the size if badly off.

...maybe just go down a size in your hook?

I love sunflowers to and have been wanting to learn this pattern for a long time. They still need finessing.

They have come along way. Do you remember my first warped attempt at them that I posted?

Amy I am also having issues w/ getting mine to be 6". I think b/c of the combo w/ the thinner yarn they are coming up a little shy of 6". I think I'll try to stretch them. LOL!!!!!

No, I'll probably end up going and getting the thicker yarn if I can find the colors I want. For granny squares the worsted medium # 4 makes nice ones.

I am still trying out sguares that I got the patterns from crochetpatterncentral.com .

eventually I will have to pick one I like but in the mean time I am getting a work out

I did not get your email but I did find a pattern for sunflowers that was just like one I received in the last swap.

I do have a total of 9 squares right now that are all different. I am just so indecisive about the square. I PROMISE I WILL post pics one of these days
