Here's a species of mine, the Puma Gryphon (specifically an arctic type, which is a much darker color than typical Puma Gryphons):

A sketch outlined in pen, than colored with watercolors. I have another one of a typical Puma Gryphon that I'll upload soon.

Thanks! The species (especially the arctic types) can be up to 5 feet tall at the shoulder, but I guess you could call them adorable.

Charcoal is awesome. It's very forgiving. Get a kneaded eraser and some newsprint and you'll be set for a while. : )

One main piece of advice is to smooth the 1st layer of value before adding another. It makes the charcoal stick better.
