have a ton of pieces to finish and improving with each one. Then I look at the older ones and want to redo :p
 
Not bad. Might want to darken the shading some more. Do you have any tortillions? You can clearly see the outline of the horse still but if you darken it and blend it some more it will look more realistic. Here's an example of what that looks like. (But not quite that much contrast on the neck muscles. I need to fix it. I did this awhile ago.)

Well the shading is pretty light in your 4h entry. I think that's typical though. I shaded mine too light for years. Don't be afraid to grab a #5 or 6 pencil and darken it up a bit though.

Aunt Ruth is right. The problem with most drawings I they don't use the whole value scale. Dark darks will help tremendously. Also remember if you need something to come forward put dark shadows around it evan if there are not any showing in the photo you are working from.
