Hello!

I have am finally ready to get a flock of guinea fowl. I posted on my state thread and found someone local I could buy some keets from this summer and am very excited.

I'm planning out my coop now and have a couple questions for you experts. :)

How far from my house should I put the coop ? The coop will have a predator proof outdoor pen attached and I want to free range them during the day, but was curious if there will be a lot of stink coming from that area. Right now the shed I plan on upgrading is about 80 ft from the back of the house.

How big of a pen will I need? I'm getting 15 keets, but will probably experience shrinkage. I'd like them to have the option to go out in the pen during the winter or if I have to travel for a few days and won't be home to let them free range.

Thank you very much and I have really enjoyed reading all this great guinea info and seeing all the guinea pics.

This is one of those days!! I have spent the 1 1/2 hrs trying to get my last 2 guineas in! I give up! If they want to go in fine they can roost in the outside pen if not there are 3 big trees next to the pen!

I have had more problems with my muscovies than my guineas when it comes time to coop them up at night. Over the last week (since it's been a little warmer) my guineas have stayed in the coop mostly due to the snow outside, but the ducks are out and about all day. But, I shut them in at dark, my guineas have been all there, the ducks however, have decided to stay out past curfew and show up about 10:30 or 11pm. AFTER the door has been shut for awhile. UGH!!

I've got lots of help in cleaning out their coop!

For me the biggest problem with my guineas is how loud they are. You think teenage humans are loud? Wait til the keets become keet-agers!! You'll hear them from down the road. But my guineas aren't really messy or smelly or anything. And as they age a bit they calm down and figure out what is actually a threat, and which is just the dog being nosy... lol.

I have 6 guineas and I just wanted to know the best way to combine my flock of 6 hens and 1 rooster and a duck to them without huge craziness.because I put the rooster in there and all 6 of them like attacked the crap out of him .any tips

My guineas are in with my peas! They free range during the day and are locked up at night.

I'm Nervous about combining chickens and guibeas. My guineas like chickens and I've never had issues with them just hanging out with free range chickens but cages is a different story and I'm not sure I should :-/ I was thinking if we hatch a few keets this year maybe I can put them in when they're bigger ... But I don't know? They're so strong
