BYC KNITTING CLUB

Annie, that is SUCH pretty yarn. I love its sheen.

Has anyone ordered from Patternworks before?
My sister had so many awful experiences dealing with them a few years ago that I never ordered from them. But, I was given a $25 gift cert. for Christmas & ordered the yarn to make:

(I figure I can do one puff a day, as a goal, and sew them together in a year or so.)

So, now I haven't heard ANYTHING from Patterworks since I ordered from them last week. Not a pip.
I have plenty to keep me busy, but want to start my year of the hexi-puff already! I am worried that I have gotten sucked into a 4 & a half month wait for one skein of yarn, or NEVER receiving the item - both of these things happened to my sister.
Was my sister just unlucky or are they awful?

ohhhh pretty! I just picked up more yarn to make hubby's second sock... apparently socks come in pairs... I'm sure that's a myth, my dryer only gives me one of each

So how did you all learn to knit? For me... an aunt taught me the knit stitch and the purl stitch which unleashed a beast! Nothing scares me! My tension sucks the big one but in time I will learn, I need to find XXXXL patterns so I can knit a XL sweater on the round! I knitted my dad a sweater which looks great but is waay too small! I had something like 2 extra balls of yarn left over.... if anything I should have been short lol. ah well! My neighbor was a fantastic teacher for the complex blankets and sweaters. Youtube has been great for socks!

My knitting career consists of 1.5 blankets, 2 icelandic sweaters knitted on circular needles, 2 scarves (the first was knit stitch, the second was knit a row purl a row) and now 2 socks one for hubby (THIS one I KNOW I did right, I ran out of yarn!) so while I waited for my yarn to arrive at the store, I started a pair for my mom.

I need to knit myself a hat and mittens, so that's next after the 2 socks of course

Hello All,
I have been knitting for about 6 months. I totally fell in love with it. I have made a afagan(msp), and many washcloths. I need to venture out in the knitting world more. I'm just so gald I found this site. I have taught myself to knit. It has been a slow process. Thank you all for sharing your projects. It gives me hope.

I started knitting almost 4 years ago.
I thought it was three but I started my first sweater during the last election cycle, and we're back to that noise again, so almost 4 years.

My mother showed me some things. My Grandmother had shown me years ago but I never really caught on. Teaching me how to knit got my Mother back to it after 15 years on the bench, and my Sister soon began to knit as well. Now my sister & I show Mom tricks and tips & she calls US for advice on techniques and patterns.
I am slowly getting better.
I jumped right into big projects - I made one small lap blanket & then went for it with sweaters. Over the last 2 years I have only made one sweater a year & little projects & my tension issues have worked themselves out, my knitting is much more even & I am A LOT faster. Not fast enough.

I go to www.knittinghelp.com anytime I have a question. It is such a helpful site. I also read A LOT of books, Interweave & Vogue magazines & I feel like it comes fairly naturally to me.
I have been crafting all my life, but knitting is my favorite. I can take it anywhere with me, and it is so tactile. I am beginning to spin & looking to hook rugs. The fiber arts are as addictive as chickens!

Oh man I can not remember who taught me. I was like 5 at the time and it was at my GF house. But I just recently picked it back up again and using Lucy Neatby dvds to learn more.

So, me and my daughter went to our first knitting club. Guess thats what its called. We were the youngest there, didnt matter, everyone (6 others) were so friendly and helpful. We had a really nice time. Funny, I went to the big northeast poultry festival show etc, didnt get the same welcome. interesting, maybe because owning chickens isnt as interesting because everyone already owns them? does that make sense. Very glad i went to this knitting club tho, made up for that. !!!

I took a class back in high school. Then picked up again like 10 years later. Been an avid knitter for 15+ years.
