BYC Member Interview - MaryJanet

I take the hens to an avian specialist vet when they get sick, so they're on the pellets he prescribed with additional supplements.
We don't have those around here. And the way I find out one of my hens has fatty liver disease is I find them dead where they were standing. They've never shown any signs of illness prior to dropping dead in their tracks. I did necropsies on 3 of them. At this point I just assume with the others that just drop.

I'm very lucky to have a specialist so nearby.

Peggy is going for her follow up appointment tomorrow morning and I'm hoping he thinks she's improved or at least stable.

I try to encourage others on BYC (in US) to visit the Aussie thread. You'd think I asked them to crawl all the way to Australia to do so. :idunnoFor goodness sake, you folks don't speak in tongues - I can understand you and I imagine you can understand my speech. As for some slang words used in either country, we get the bonus of broadening our vocabulary. :yesss:

Our posts count in USA, and so do any of your likes. I am guessing it works the same with my posts/ likes in your country. Plus, I've never come across any Aussies having arguments among themselves. You all sound polite and respectful - not at all like some (rare )examples in USA.

:hugs love my Aussie friends, and new ones made along the way.

Thanks DD :love Aussies are pretty good at listening and understanding each other and respecting difference of opinion without losing friendship. We discuss instead of argue and even then we try to do it kindly. Whereas once or twice I've carefully shared a viewpoint and it's caused an American to suspend the discussion instead of taking it further. Things I can discuss with Aussies, I can't discuss with Americans. Maybe it makes Aussies seem offensive? When really we're opening our minds to other opinions.

But, for what it's worth mate, I value your friendship and sparkling wit :hugs I'm so happy every time you join in!!

But you're right, the slang can come flat out like a lizard drinking! :gig (whatever that means :gig:lau:gig)

Oh my, I don't think I could hold my breath long enough to crawl under the ocean!

Maybe it makes Aussies seem offensive?
Or Americans are too easily offended? Maybe take anything that doesn't agree with their viewpoint as an attack?

I'm not sure but sometimes there's a cultural gap I can't close.

Do you know what? I reckon it's my fault for being too curious about the world.
