BYC members in Massachusetts?

She looks refined! Very cute. I too am really over brooding inside. that's why I've been reading up on having a hen do the work for me! I think I will add two or three of them to my flock instead of building a new brooder for next year and see how that works out. Thanks for the pic!

There was a time when I thought my BR's were going broody. Turns out they were hiding from the rooster. He's a bit over amorous.

I haven't seen one of my girls leave the nest in almost 3 whole days. She sleeps there instead of the roost. The funny thing is I have never even seen the rooster breed this one. I know some of the eggs are fertile though. I want to set her up for success but I'm not invested in her hatching either way. I think it is amazing to watch the process, and what's cuter than a little line of chicks behind a mama!? The hen in question is named fluffy.

Hello! Glad to find other Massachusetts BYC members. I'll be getting some Coturnix Quail soon, and I've had chickens in the past.
:woot

Welcome!!!

I’ve had chickens for about 5 years now (though my population has expanded considerably the past year 😂🤣🙈) and I’m in the process of hatching quail eggs right now. :D

You should go check out the quail forums if you haven’t already too!! Very informative. :D

Particularly this thread. :D

Hi there! Chicken newbie here near Worcester.
We have 5 day old Salmon Faverolles. They are super inquisitive little ladies and funny too!
I am building out a run that that will have a detachable tractor to move across the yard. The coop itself is a converted kids playhouse. The playhouse was originally themed after Boston sports..... so the sign was converted from Fenway Park to read Fenway Peck. Ha!

Welcome @RootyBoots! Im close to you, in Franklin County. Glad to have you on the thread. We love chick pics!

Thank you for the welcome.
We have wanted to try our hand raising chicks for awhile but never felt we had the time to dedicate. Well, as you know with how things have been in MA, we suddenly had a lot of time at home on our hands these past few months.

Curious, where did you get your chicks from? I had a heck of a time locating a local store.
