BYC members in Massachusetts?

I'm more concerned with the winds as well. You @tigger19687 are most definitely getting the wind. I'm in Lunenburg so it could go either way. I can deal with the rain, the winds always concern me. My coop is a sturdy 8 x10 shed with attached covered runs. I have two smaller coops (a grow out pen and a rooster coop) that are also covered. They have been fine through the last big Nor'easters we have had, but you just never know. If your coop is large enough, I would lock your chickens up during the storm. Save the tarps to cover any sustained damage after the worst. Good luck.

I ended up using the sun shades (doubled up) and vents at the top so when the winds come it blows through at the top ends. They will be locked in over night, I'll close and lock early Sat night. Then gotta see how it goes Sunday and Monday. But yeah I think they will get locked in during the day if we end up getting the high high winds.
You will get all the rain :( which mean more trees will come down out your way since the ground is so wet already !
Stay safe everyone.

Not too worried at this point. Apparently the storm has shifted so the worst of the winds will be 45 mph gusts. We’ve had Nor’easters worse than that here.
I think the only thing you have to worry about is all the rain and the ground being so saturated that the trees come down :(

The one big band they said was hitting me is here. Will see how bad that part is.
But the coop is tethered down and several straps over the top to keep the sunshade from ballooning up. So far the hens don't care

Glad to be vacationing in Syracuse right now, just out of the way of the storm. I hope my chickens and all of you guys and flocks are doing alright!

Hi al!! I’m in MA and looking to rehome one of our two year old buff Orpington’s to a new home. She is a loud layer and has become a problem due to noise for our neighbor who has some sensitivities. Is anyone looking for a beauty?

If I had the capacity to quarantine her I would take her. I have 3 BO’s and one of them is quite vocal. I don’t mind it and find it amusing. Apparently it’s a breed thing.
