BYC members in Massachusetts?

I heard about this, articles I saw was 16 dead wild birds? I see dead birds on the beach pretty often, so that one didn’t freak me out as much, but still really scary. Hope everyone’s flocks are safe!
I’m not sure if it was the same story or not but did you mean 61 or did you really mean 16? There could be different ones I suppose. But the one I saw which was actually really close to me ended up being like 60+ dead birds from one single pond and then I think they later went back and got like another 60 or 70 so it ended up being like 100+ from this one pond. If not, definitely at least 60+ though.

Oh wow that’s a lot! I think I just saw like the first panic with 16 birds, then I guess later there where alit more. I didn’t hear about that many, that’s crazy!

Ohhhhh okay that makes sense!!!!!!!! I guess I heard about it more since the pond is extremely close to me 😭 and IKR!?!?! Some were already dead, some they euthanized. There were dead birds stuck in the ice, it was crazy.

Hello, for the right home we are considering re-homing our wonderful rooster-- his brother is the flock leader and this guy deserves his own flock.

Buff Orpington, 9 months old

He is wonderfully friendly and loving (not aggressive at all!) He loves to hop up on your lap and snuggle. He knows his name and other words like "gentle". He generally asks for permission with the ladies, and is very good at keeping watch and finding food. He is easy to pick up (he doesn't give chase) and just wants to be a good rooster (or "good wooster" as he loves to be complimented)! He was hatched here and lovingly raised with respect.

We are willing to drive several hours within New England for the right home.

List on Craigs list, you will get people better

Well, I can't take it not having hens run around the yard any longer. Sold my hens a few years ago :(
Anyone have 2 OLDER hens- maybe not laying much- they are looking to rehome?
I don't really need the eggs, I just like having them around, free ranging in a large Netted area ;)
I don't want to do chicks

By any off chance, does anyone have any lavender chicks or colorful egg layer chicks available in the boston area? I got some from a hatchery but they didnt have the selection I wanted 😭. I do not have a car (I am raising the chicks for my mom who lives in illinois) so I can only move with public transit.

Alternatively, would anyone be willing to take some chicks off me if I just go to the farm and home and buy the 4 minimum? I really only have space for ***7 chicks total, and my 5 from the hatchery are arriving this week.

Minimums exist for a reason, although some are extreme like tsc with 6 chick minimum. Keeping one lone chick is not good for it, as it will get lonely, three is best, as they are flock animals. Maybe get 6 and split with someone else. Good luck!

Right. My (5) hatchery chicks are coming this week (hopefully tomorrow). I would certainly not be keeping one or two chicks alone!

These chicks would be in addition to the hatchery ones.

I realize I didnt make that clear. I will edit the reply.
