Has anyone who keeps "outlaw chickens" had their flock tested?
I'm not supposed to have chickens here but I do

I would like to have them tested, but am worried about being outed and having to get rid of them!!!
Since the NPIP keeps records where they are, do they submit that info to each city as well??

So I'd like to know if anyone who keeps their flock under the radar has actually had theirs tested and still has their chickens!

When we lived in leicester we had our birds tested and did not have a promblem with teh town, until 1 neighbor complained.

Hi from eastern Mass. This might be a silly question, but I'm new to all of this. What is the NPIP? And what do you have the chickens tested for?

they come out and draw a tiny bit of blood from your under wing, they do every bird over 4 months of age.
some they take a throaght swab.

it is a testing for Avain and polluim, i most likely spelled that wrong, when they do that you ask to be NPIP which is a program that basically you keep tracked on what you sell for records so that the states can see who has been tested and such.
now if you are going to ship eggs or live birds or travel with them, you need to be NPIP for some states.

but if are going to show, sell, eggs chicks, chickens, in mass all you need is a health certificate that your birds have been tested clean.

Now some states will have you fill out a permit for that state if you sell in there state. again must have the npip certificate.

It is very easy to get done, it is free here in mass.
