Howdy.
Nice! You folks get rain!Southeast
Congrats!Hello!
Someone else answered four years late, so I hope two years late isn't an issue now.
I will be pursuing becoming a Greek Orthodox Catechumen this November in the Western USA. Unsure of diocese.
Thank you! I'm eager to start. I will be marrying a young Greek Orthodox man in a few short months, who was baptized OCA, and after that I will be joining his parish as a Catechumen. I will be glad to have him by my side.Congrats!
It is a life long process!
I believe his parish is under the Metropolis of Denver then! I think the Metropolitan recently changed. The last one retired this past Spring.diocese just means what bishop you are under. For the western side of the US the Greeks have a bishop in San Francisco, and one in Denver. But I am unsure how they cut everything up.
I do find the Greek churches very beautiful. I've only been in one Greek and one OCA parish though. I hope to be able to see some more. There used to be a Russian parish around here, but it seems to have gone dead. For example, the OCA put Alaska as it's own diocese. But the Antiochians put Alaska into a huge Northwestern diocese.
Actually... there is one Greek Orthodox church up here, incredibly gorgeous church... I wonder if they put it with San Francisco or Denver.
Doesn't really matter.
I've heard of the monasteries and am certainly curious! My Fiancé very much enjoys visiting other parishes and Orthodox destinations when he's out of state, so I'm sure I will have many opportunities to see them myself. There are some fantastic Greek Orthodox monasteries in the US... Goldendale up in Washington state.... I know there are some monasteries in California, but now I can't remember if those are Greek.
Visiting monasteries is a wonderful thing. I hope you find one close to where you are so that you can visit.
That's wonderful! My second son is getting married on Sunday (I have 5 sons, but this is the first to marry).
His bride just converted, she was baptized OCA, by a priest that knew, and is from the same village as the newly recognized Saint Olga.

Yes, zoom!That's wonderful!
I'd very much have wanted to become a Catechumen earlier, but in November I will be moving over 1,000 miles to be where my Fiancé lives, and the Catechismic classes wouldn't be wrapped up in time. I also didn't want to start the process at one parish mere months before going to another.
I'm very much looking forward to getting to start them and meet his fellow parishioners. Hopefully I will soon be able to "meet" his priest over Zoom for our first marriage counseling session.
