BYC Performance Improvements

im guessing upgrade has happened

IE8 is causing major issues

when you post it says you must enter something before subiting although i have written out text

when clicking quote button the quote doesnt show in the box

only way around this is to close IE8 and reopen it which is tedious as you have to do it with every post every time

The upgrade made safari go buggy, it refused to post no matter how many times I hit submit after the upgrade. I know growth is needed, but the changes has made BYC a royal PIA for me as an iPad user. I don't tapatalk either, so it's not a fix n my book. I shouldn't have to put yet another app on here just to use BYC. -----off my soap box over iPad---- which is the only way I access BYC.

We're looking into these issues. If you are reporting problems make sure you include ALL this info:

• What is the URL of the page that you got the error or had problems?
• Did you receive any error messages? if yes, what were they? (please copy and paste the entire message, screenshots are best)
• What were the exact steps you took before having the problem? Please be as specific as possible so we can do exactly what you did.
• How long has it been happening? If only one time, what day and time did it happen?
• Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)
• Have you logged out, deleted your internet cache / browser history of files, logged back in, and tried again?
• Have you tried a different browser (we suggest Firefox or Chrome)?

Glad I found this because:
BYC just kills my older PowerPC iMac G5. It only has 750M of memory, is running OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and the most recent Firefox it can (which is pretty old). Soon after entering the site, the CPU is cranked and the disk drive sounds like it wants to take off. I don't know if it is because of all the scrolling graphics/ads, whatever but: the BYC site is TOTALLY UNUSABLE. Unfortunately it is the only machine available at that house - the one where the chickens will live! We can't even get to Comcast mail because it needs a higher level of Firefox.

A similar machine with 1G of memory is not AS bad. I can use BYC but I still hear the drive running much more than ANY other site I have EVER been on. That suggests to me that BYC is a memory hog forcing almost constant swapping unless the machine has a LOT of memory. Another thing I have noticed is a frequent notification from FF that it has blocked BYC from forwardng to a new page so BYC is doing something in the background that is not visible to the user.

The machine is running the highest level of OS X it can - 10.5 (Leopard) - Apple tossed us Power PC people to the curb when they moved to Intel based machines. No more OS upgrades, ever. Thus $4K of machinery (when new) is becoming as useful as wings on a rock.

I'm going to put Snow Leopard on my wife's Intel based iMac and use the install CD that came with the machine to put Leopard on the old PowerPC machine. At least then I can get a more recent version of Firefox and MAYBE BYC will be useable. The alternative is to spend a ton of money on a new computer and that isn't in the cards.

We had a similar mac, 10.4 with Firefox. Loved it to bits, but we couldn't upgrade

Bought a MacBook Air earlier this year. Expensive, but worth every penny! Got Lion now and it's fantastic. Using Safari and had no problems at all. Have you looked at the Mac mini? You can take it everywhere and it's still quite affordable.
I love Apple
