BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

Had a friend make a Dear Jane. It was something amazing. She gave me the book and CD but I never have gotten around to it.

Welcome Craftygirl, I love to see some of your work.

Just sent a quilt to be long armed today and started a baby quilt for my nephew and his wife. Appliqués bunnies with alternating nine patch. Done with repro feed sack fabric. Couldn't put it off any longer since the baby is due in June.

I have. I have the book and most rulers too but I think it is very hard to do. Some people have a special CD? I would like it if the blocks were paper piece. Are you thinking of starting a group?

First I have to decide if I even want to do a Dear Jane, I think if I did it would just be an inspired one, the real one is just soooo busy looking. I think I'd be happier w/ doing some of the blocks I find prettiest and a less busy layout.

I'd be terrible at it then! I hate piecing - I always have. I started quilting back in 1972, before the big bi-centennial all-things-old-fashioned- craze kicked into high gear. All I could find at the local library in San Diego were four books, and three of the four smelled musty! Neighbors expressed concern that we were "so broke she has to make her own blankets!"

I can't paper piece either. Carol Doaks wrote a book for me and sent it to me, autographed, before it was released in stores - "Show Me How To Paper Piece." I told her once that I just couldn't get the hang of it - that all the words and drawings in the world didn't help. Next thing I know I got her book in the mail with a little note saying not to worry because I was right, some people learn better visually than with written instructions, and she told me to keep saying, "I think I can, I think I can." Well, I still couldn't and I still can't.

But I love the hand quilting....I only piece to get to the fun part. I envy people who can do such beautiful piecing. I have made many whole cloth quilts, and am in love with Broderie Perse. I don't know if I'm so bad at piecing because I hate it, or if I hate it because I'm so bad at it! Either way, I do it - but I relax as soon as I get to the hand work.

Hello Everyone.
I have been a member on BYC for just a short time. But I've used the forum as a resource for information for years. However, I just came across this thread today. I own a quilting company and provide professional quilting services.
I can't wait to follow this thread and hope to make some new friends.

Welcome, do you do long arm quilting? Where are you located? Do you have a web site? Thanks Carol

I am locate near Wichita, Ks. I do LAQ. I own a Handi-Quilter Fusion (24 inch) on a 12 foot table with the Pro-system computerized setup. If you can think of it, I can quilt it.
I have a Facebook page. I used to have a web page, but canceled it when I closed my retail shop. People use Facebook so much these days that my website was being utilized less and less.

You can find me on Facebook: Friendship Star Quilt Company

I receive quilts from everywhere to finish for clients and ship them back when completed.
