BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

I had just hoped to get one of them to come speak,, but when I talked to one lady yesterday she and another lady were so excited that the kids wanted to learn they came up with the 3 part visit on their own.

I just finished a prom dress. I did my first hem on a bias cut dress... polyester... meh... it kind of sucked but not bad. I tamed it with a second row of stitching, and an iron. Thank heavens for irons.

I loved this dress and didn't take a picture!! What is the matter with me. In the beginning it was a strapless empire waist a line skirt dress. I removed the bodice and added a shirred mesh over a super flashy blue stretchy fabric. She wanted sleeves so the dress was modest. It is PERFECT! I'm so proud. And she will be the only one wearing the dress. Yea!

Things I don't like.... polyester... and polyester. Yuck. Am I the only one?

Here's a layout of the blocks

And here is a closeup of the "Bill" figure. That's a couple of fish fussy cut and some fishing lures for little corner blocks.
Will probably embroider Bill's name and date of birth/death somewhere in the appliqued block.

The plaid shirts are making some nice combinations. There is a nice stripe shirt I'll use for a bias binding.
I'm going to make one for my MIL also. She is having a hard time dealing with losing a son.

Nanakat love the quilt. Too bad I can't make my grandson something like that before I get too old. I am working on figuring out how too square these blocks that my DIL from Texas cut out and told me too sew up. Some of them are really off.

That's going to be an awesome quilt.

@ NanaKat: That's really turning out wonderfully...love the idea of making a memory quilt that doesn't SCREAM memory quilt. I also like how your using applique with the embroidery. I like mixing things up too.
