BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

I'm getting off the 8" block conversation a minute. I have to mention that I am going to take a class in Feb. in two parts on making a quilted sweatshirt. I'm really looking forward to it. It's one way to use up sweatshirts that might be stained on the front or tired of the pattern that might be on there. I'll post photos once I get going on it. The first class is on the 4th and the other two weeks later. I also put the hand peiced quilt I'm making on my bed today to see how much more I need to go. I was surprised to find I only have three or four more rows to go. Then it will be sashing and binding. It's a six pointed star made with 1 1/2 inch diamonds sourrounding a 5 inch octagon so it's done in rows. I started last April and I do a little every night while watching TV. I posted a picture a long time ago. It will have to be hand quilted so it will be another year I guess to completion. Sigh! I do machine quilting also so I don't get burned out. Hope everyone is having a good day. It's 75 today here in the desert. My chickens and birds are lovong it. Me too!

That sounds fun! I took a break from from squares too,, I now have a stack 8 inches tall of 8 inch squares! I made a pie or covered dish carrier that is really neat. I'm thinking of making them to put on Etsy to try and sell.

I made a casserole dish carrier for people for Christmas this year. It even had the dowels for handles. It holds a 9x13 dish. They're fun to make. I'll be cutting soon so I will do your 8" blocks then also.

26 kids got 30 squares each to start with yesterday and got them all matched up and the X sewn through them. Five of the kids are working on the last of the pink and blue kits we got through Donorschoose last year.

This sounds bad...but are you still short squares? As I have half a box cut, if you need them. I just wanted to get it jam packed before I sent it.

Oh yes! I'm still cutting frantically but with that many kids they sure don't go far. The 30 they got once they were sewn together back to back only gave them 15 squares which isn't much of a dent even in a small quilt. They will be working on these for several weeks so there is time to cut!
