BYC Survey - Trying to better understand our users!

I have ad killer and I got the survey.
Some of the questions are very specific to US users though, just to make international folks aware.

well, I would've participated. I was "chosen," and clicked on the survey link immediately, though wasn't able to access the survey because of an annoying box that asked me if I wanted to take the survey; again, I said, "yes" immediately, and the annoying box appeared a second time; again I answered, "yes," and nothing happened.

Not to be critical - this is an amazing site. But. The survey thing was sadly, um, annoying...

Why is this survey a random popup? Why not just post it somewhere and let users do it or not?

I actually asked about that and the response from the support:

Oh, okay.
On the other hand, I would think one would want the "power users," to reply.

The power users will reply, but this way it will be proportionate vs. skewed.
