BYC's 2023 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Along

Im down to 2 chocolate turkey eggs hatching Oct. 31st-November 1st. One died, unfortunately, but the other two look good right now. At10 chicken eggs that'll hatch that day as well.(3 BcW polish, 7 WCB polish/ayam cemani crosses).

I have 4 more chocolate eggs that’ll hatch maybeee November 10th.
My hen seems to be slowing down on laying. I think I’ve gotten 16 eggs from her though(set 12 so far), which is shocking for how late in the year this is.

Im probably gonna be setting the (potential) last of her eggs today because i hate to let them sit for too long and there’s spare space in the Halloween incubator, then once my first clutch finishes hatching I’ll set another 13 or more chicken eggs. Oh, about that, my first set of chicken eggs I incubated with the Halloween turkeys is hatching. 4 WCB/ayam cemani chicks, and 1 BCW chick. Another BCW egg is externally pipped though, and a third is cracked. I‘ll see tomorrow how everything is going for them.

I hope you do get the one turkey egg to hatch!

Day 15 I noticed my cord was unplugged, (Well still in wall, but limply...)
Eggs were cold but still had veins. IDK how long.

Hopefully the hatch will be delayed a bit but will still have chicks hatch. The egg looks good!

So out of 64 eggs 18 are still going. Let me tell you I love the Ovation 56. I don't have to remember to put water in it like the nr360.

So I have 5 silver Sebright, 5 blue rose comb, 6 Ameraucana bantams and 2 Dutch bantams. None of the show quality rose combs made it or developed. None of the d'Anvers made it.

My eggs were set late on the 10th to begin with now with the delay, they may hatch on the 1st of Nov. Veins are still there.

I candled mine a couple times….looks like maybe 6/14 viable
Some saddled air cells….not feeling really optimistic
I’m probably going to relocate my incubator this weekend to inside the house because the shop doesn’t have heat right now and it’s forecasted to drop below freezing a few mornings next week.

I use shelf liners for hatching and brooding. It is simple to do a rough cleaning of them in the bath tub and then off to the washing machine.
