BYC's 2026 Valentine's Day Hatch-Along

Today is officially day 21 for the 4 bantam eggs. No pips, no wiggles, no peeps :( . I'm starting to think the movement I saw on day 18 was from shadows when I was moving the light around to get a better angle. The replacement CCLs arrive tomorrow so I'll give them until then.

I wasn't delusional! Two are piping 20260218_110736.jpg

I'm also dying to candle that double yolker in the next batch of eggs. They're only at day 5 though and the darker eggs will be hard to see anything this early . . .so I'm waiting until Friday day 7. . . very impatiently lol

Lol I never wait anymore. But instead of pulling them out, I just take the top off my incubator, use a tiny, strong flashlight, and candle them right where they sit. This lets me candle them on day 3 without moving them, and pretty reliably I can see which ones are developing. I usually give them until day 4 or 5 until removing the clears - occasionally I have one that I couldn’t tell on day 3, but I can see it by day 4 or 5!

My bedroom isn't dark enough most of the day so I have to take them to the bathroom when I candle.
