Those puddles also freeze in winter.
One evening, my friend and I looked out our dorm window at a woman braving the falling snow to walk her golden lab. She made it to the corner, dog keeps going. So does she, at least partway, before she slid and fell on her posterior. The dog just turned and looked at her, like, "What's the problem back there?"
Moral of the story: 4 paws are better on ice than 2 feet.
