Yes, it does make sense.
I will try to 'splain.If you uploaded to a post it was saved on the server. On the old forum, you would still see the picture in your "My Pictures" or whatever it was called, but if they were not put into an album with a name they weren't brought over here in your media. They are still on the main server and brought over with the posts, but not in your media. Only albums that you created came over.
You have to go to Gallery>Your Albums>Add Media>Create Album and upload directly to a new album. Then you can use them in posts, articles and whatnot.
And be sure to set your privacy settings! Otherwise you risk anyone seeing what you have if you were wanting to keep it private or you can risk people able to upload to your albums.
