I'm sure there's a set with your name all over it, you nut! That's an awesome deal and really great for quilt blocks. I hope to make a few jumpers this summer so I've been looking at some fabric with more yardage than fat quarters too...just have to find that easy button and pattern that I can do and then hope it turns out as something I won't be too embarrassed to wear in public!

Isn't that the set that you just ordered.

I did buy a set, can't wait to get them. She has plenty more if anyone is into fat quarters. I think she has groups of 20 for 10 bucks, good deals and all cotton.

I have one block completed and the rest to sew, they are all cut, interfacing and all so I am certain now I will get mine done on time, probably in a few weeks actually. Zoo said she was finished! She's been speed sewing!!!

SE not finished LOL but sure am on my way.

Last Thursday I grafted my pattern. Then I cut out 189 pattern pieces, I used freezer paper. Then talking to my sister I realized that I cut the pattern pieces 1/4 inches too big so Friday night I recut the 189 pieces 1/4 inch smaller then I had cut them.

Then I ironed the 189 pieces of freezer paper to my fabric (this was fun) leaving at least 3/4 of an inch between each pattern piece.

Then with a rotter cutter and a ruler 1 cut the 189 pattern pieces out but added the 1/4 sewing seam to the pattern as I cut them out. So you have the pattern piece and then an additional 1/4 inch of matterial.

Then you sew them in the numbered order and you sew along the freezer paper, this leaves your 1/4 inch seam. Was really fun andfast. Then just pull the freezer paper off after your pieced block is done. Square it up.

I am that far with the chicken part of my block. I just have to sew the border on and iron again.

Last step is to sew on the comb and then to embroider the eye of the chicken and the legs on the chickens. Then I will square them up and get them in the mail to Amy. I am thinking of using the sewing machine for my embroidering but I have not decided if I can get away with that.

I wanted to post a pic of what it will look like with the chicken square sat on top of my border material. I have been trying to download to photobucket for 2 days for hours at a time. I just can't get it to work. Sorry

Ok link works now, keep in mind that this pic was taken before these were squared up and ironed. They are now ironed and squared up and I have been pinning the sides of the border on them. Oh ya I made 22 of them instead of 20 ask me how that happened I knew about the extra one but the 2nd extra is a total surprise LOL. I do that all the time LOL.

I got the link to work in that last post I made. Just remember that they were not ironed or squared up at that time. They are now I am working at pinning on the side of my borders right now.

I worked all day into last night on my block last night and came to the conclusion that the pattern that I previously had picked out just was not going to work with the turning under the edges requirement. I even tried sewing the interfacing on and turning the shapes inside out and with the detailed shapes the way they were, it just did not work.

The pattern that I bought came in the mail Friday and much to my disappointment, ended up being a paper piecing pattern. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing in the world wrong with paper piecing, I was just planning on doing an applique.

Sooo.... My wonderful DH sat down and drew a pattern for me! I told him I wanted one that was sort of like the one I just got in the mail and this is what he came up with. Mind you, it isn't done yet. I have some machine and hand stitching I want to do on it, but here is the rough draft so-to-speak.
