Funny how they all have difference preferences....I have one that I bought from a large flock that would rather have her meals on the floor...she's reluctant to eat from a bowl or pan...my 2 little ones will clean their bowl, but the big ducks will eat around certain things then Buddy gets an attitude when I reach in to get the bowl and tries to stop me! Strange duck...won't eat whats in there but does'nt want me to take it either.
Yesterday they both got bored and flew out of the pen...by climbing up on their hammock (designed as shade and a cover to sit under, they found another use, to sleep ON like a hammock) and using that as a lauching ramp to get over the fence...I come home to a patio with all kinds of stuff pulled out, duck poo everywhere and 2 big ducks acting like I'm the bad guy for busting up the party...Usually bad behavior does not get rewarded...but this time I gave them treats just to get them settled again so they'd stay in the pen. I keep several fresh cucumbers on hand to use as bribes in these situations...works everytime.
