Cabinet Styled Styrofoam Incubator?

Quote:
When working with Styrofoam to build large industrial freezers I have used a dowel rod slightly larger then a pencil to kina line things up in between the 2 coolers you could do the same that and to even up the gap you can use a sanding block with some 60=-100 grit paper to keep from having to use so much caulking I have used contact cement/ rubber cement to successfully glue Styrofoam before to hold it in place long enough to put the refractory "mud" on

@ Punk-a-doodle... Don't worry about gap between boxes... I like aprophet's idea to place a few dowel pieces to give it strength... (if you have any around!) but would be Good to "Caulk" it? is that USA Talk for "Silicon Sealer"? Cause that's what if use and holds alright! but on Safe side just Wrap a Layer of Wide duct Tape around outside??

of course I'll love to post more pics as I build it... hope this post goes for a while...till some chicks come out of the home made bator

I'm feeling more like this is salvagable. Since I have a deadline to order the quail eggs by, I think I'm going to go for messier but removable duct tape work for now as I can't even solder wires together (just use electrician's tape) or anything at this point. I need everything removable and temporary so I can later convert the one cooler cabinet into a two cooler one more easily, and hopefully duct tape will keep everything air wise inside for one batch of six or so eggs. We'll see in the test run!

Later on, I'll be using wooden skewers for dowels as you suggested Aprophet, sealing a bit with silicone as Brimstone suggested (I have to buy a ton of 100% silicone sealant any way for another project), and cleaning up the outside of the gap with stucco to hopefully make it look more seamless.

You're all so helpful!

p.s... hey "punk!"a-doodle

use deep plastic lids for vent valve! Not shorter cardboard ones!! they'll get wet and crumble...

No worries Brim, they are actually all fairly thick plastic. Some just need to be removed from an outer cardboard tubing.

Technically from America (but born elsewhere), and grew up mainly in England. So...kind of culturally confused. XD

Update:
I got the fan, lights, and vents inserted and hooked up tonight. I think it's going to work! There is great airflow coming out of both vents, plenty enough to add a second cooler, I think. I have *hideous* duct tape all around the gap, but as far as a temporary seal goes, it is working beautifully (thanks Brim). It seems easy to peel off too, for when it's time to upgrade. Temporary sloppy squares of foil are up just to keep the styrofoam from scorching at all from the bulb, but will later be upgraded to a heavier foil (I'm cutting apart some cheap disposable foil cookie sheets to line the top section). The first time I plugged it in, I blew out a bulb and had a lovely roasted smell. It was an easy fix, but this is why one shouldn't wire things at 2 am. Lesson learned. ...Until tomorrow night.

Bask in it's hideous but functional glory! But don't laugh too hard.
