Nice! I'm definitely gonna put the sugar start in the sun for them. Thanks a lot for that tip!

Well tomorrow is the day! I'm getting a little anxious. The temps are high everywhere! Im hoping everyone who.has chicks in the mail this week are fine.

Ive been fermenting their chick starter now for almost 2 days. Just added water and yeast. And I am Soo amazed how much this stretches the food out! I filled about 1/8 of my container with chick feed l, and it almost spilled over lol.

I'll post a.video tomorrow of the unboxing of the chicks and their brooder. Hope we all have a safe touchdown!

Hahaha! I love the corral! I might have to remake that lol
Imglad to see you had good success with your Giants. Are you just using them for egg production? The farmer who sold me my RIR birds says he stopped raising Cornish cross for meat and is gonna get into the jersey giants . Honestly if I have any room left in a few months those are gonna be my next pick up. Thanks for sharing. Did any gro-gel come with your chicks?
I was thinking the same thing!!

I GOT MY CHICKS!!! All 27 survivors!

I can't figure out which photobucket link to paste with the picture link button so I'm gonna record q video and upload it. It will let me do that. ?Ha!

So far these little chicks have been non stop like little ants. Back and forth back and forth back and forth to the feeder them to sleep. It's kind of scary. I know puppies do this too and they can literally sometimes eat themselves to death.

Im feeding them all even the poults, Organic Pride chick starter %20 protein. But I'm also fermenting it. They freakn love this stuff!! They have been gobbling this stuff up like no tomorrow. When I first got them home, I guess they were a little thirsty and a little cool. They went straight to the water and then to the heat spot. They didn't hit the food for about 45 min. Only a few did.
Since they HAVE been eating the FF (Fermented Feed) they haven't been drinking much water, and that's beautiful!!

That's kind of the whole point is to cut back on water and to help their intestines and help make the poop not smell rotten. So ill get that video uploading because it takes a few hours.

I'll continue to report any major things I see with the chicks. And continue to figure out how to post pics from my phone. If anyone has any tips for me on that please shoot those to me lol.

And has anyone else got chicks today?

Congrats!!! hope they thrive for you unfortunatly i did not fair so well my cackle order arrived 7/11 2days after ship date all seemed healthy but ended up losing three 2favs 1 w/coch during tracking i noticed they were held up in missouri a full day im sure it was ruff on them but not to rain on your parade i hope all yourlittle ones do great and if you get a chance a little info on the fermenting feed as this is the first ive heard of it still working on the pics but the chics seem to be getting all my free time go figure!! Also wanted to inform you of something ive learned in my short time of raising chicks DRIED POO AND CHICK FLUFF= CONCRETE!!!!!!! have fun!!

Well here they are! With a little persistent research, I now know how to post pictures from my smart phone! Soo amazing lol. So I've had them for 2 days now and the jumbo Cornish meaties have grown so much it is crazy!! And OMG the poop!! I've went through a pack and a half of pack of paper towels on the little guys. Wow! I'm kind of overwhelmed. I WILL NOT let them just walk around AMD sleep in poop and they are pooping like crazy. Do most people use paper towels? I have fine shavings underneath but I think they are trying to eat it. I'm thinking I'm gonna give them another few days on the paper towels, then just shavings. A few of em were getting pasty butt. Real bad! IT WAS like concrete. Poor little fellas or ladies should I say. IDK why they got it. Maybe they were too warm? They've had ACV (apple cider Vinegar) in their water wince they came home so IDK. It hasn't come back yet so ill just keep a eye on it. How I got rid of it was took one of those .big plush Q-tips and with some warm water just kept gently rubbing on it until it was soft and able to be pulled off. I'm sure it was a little painful, but rather painful than fatal, right? So since I know how to post pics now, I'm gonna get on taking good pics. I hope everyone got their chicks happy and healthy! Talk to you guys soon!

I just got an order from Cackle hatchery on the 13th also. 5 silver laced wyandottes and 5 columbian wyandottes. They are the healthiest chicks I have received thru the mail yet. This is my third time to order chicks from a hatchery. I used Mcmurray and Ideal before. I will order again from Cackle. They are closer to me and the chicks got here on day 2 instead of day three. I think that made a huge difference. Plus they called first to make sure it was ok to ship them and to make sure I would be able to pick them up on the 13th. I had a really great experience with them.

Well that's good to hear. I was nervous in the beginning, dealing with Cackle. I know they were one of the Bigger hatcheries, but usually that means leas quality. Usually. But so far so good with Cackle.

Did you get any packing peanuts with your order? I didn't. Just wondering. Any pics if the little buggers?
