Cackle Hatchery Review

Down to 2 bantams :s I’m not holding my breath that they’ll live. Everytime I think they’re done dying they prove me wrong. All the large fowl are still doin great. What a hard lesson in mail order bantams! I really had my hopes up for bantams this year... there’s no one in 100 miles breeding them. Maybe I’ll try hatching eggs...

Do you have some nutri-drench to give them?

I was doing a vitamin boost but Cackle insisted to not and insisted I use only vinegar water and not combine it with anything else. But I’ve only got 2 bantams left, so...
the large fowl are doing great but the bantams ate just so desperately frail and still weak. They’re in their own brooder with the little fayoumis, the fayoumis are thriving but the bantams are not.

Cackle has been great. We sorted out the damage report and I may try ordering again once it warms up.

It doesn’t look like I can edit my OP again.

Even though we’ve lost 16 of the 18 bantams, Cackle has been supportive and helpful. Customer service was friendly and informative. The 30 large fowl (if you count fayoumis) are doing great and are robust. We only lost 2 large fowl.

I would not hesitate to try ordering again.

I am leery of having chicks shipped especially bantams I am going to go with cackle as well but they are about 4 hours from me so I"m going to drive down and pick mine up. What a terrible ride back it's going to be cuddling all those babies to keep em from rattling around :D Could be addicting have to drive down once a month :p Thanks for the review I'll chime back in once I have mine picked up.

April 1st 2019. Cackle hatchery shipped me 15 dominique bantams, 5 barred rock bantams, 10 crele oeg bantams, and 20 silkie bantams + 7 extras. After 2 weeks I only lost 1 dominique and it didnt pass away until day 12. They arrived healthy and strong. 1 silkie looked weak but it was vigorous within hours of being unboxed.

I ordered chicks from them last month and picked my ship date for the 15th of this month, because I'm hatching chicks and wanted them to all be around the same age. They sent me a e-mail saying that the date I picked was good for them and they would ship them on the 15th. Well this morning they called and told me they ran out of chicks filling other orders so they didn't ship them yesterday. Im a little upset about this, the whole reason I placed the order last month was to be sure I could get that date. So now they will ship them next Monday. I hope they make it right by adding more chicks, but I guess we will see.

I will update when I get them, when ever that is.

They have some stuff on the site warning that this can happen. Basically they are having to count their chickens before they hatch. Somtimes chicks don't make it to hatch. I'm sure they will make it good. hope I can get mine. I'm gonna drive to pick em up they will be expensive if I have to make two trips. I'm sure it will all work out but I understand the disappointment when things don't go right. Keep my fingers crossed for both of us. I ended up with my date because the variety I wanted weren't all available at the same time till that date.
