Cackle Hatchery reviews

Pics
Awww! I think once you reach a certain number of posts that feature turns on. It's the third button from the left just under "reply." Some pics of your cackle birds would be great, and of Lavender being Lavender, of course ;) too bad you can't have a red rooster for her to dote on! LOL

Good question.

Cackle charges a dollar more per bird than Ideal or Hoover for the same breed.

I am wondering why . All hatcheries reimburse for dead birds.

Is there a quality issue?

Or do they just charge more because people like to pay more because they feel it must be better?

I have ordered from cackle twice the first time I got 12 barred rock, they also sent me 1 extra (So 13). The second time I ordered 26 mixed breeds (I also got 3 extra) The first time I did not have any die, but the second time I had three die. One of them was sick and acted very weird (It had been this way since I got them), even a chicken vet could not tell me for sure what was wrong with it. It either had a bacterial infection from cackle, or a head injury from shipping. The sick one was a welsummer and it died, along with two of my buff cochins. When I got the buff cochins their eyes were shut and would not open, they are open now. I assume this is how they were supposed to be though because they were all like that. Overall I have had a good experience with Cackle though, The only issues I had were
Pros;
1.All of the chicks made it through shipping
2.The chicks looked healthy (Except for the one)
3.They got my order right
4.They included extras
Cons;
1. Sick Chick (If it got a head injury in shipping it was not their fault but it was most likely a bacterial infection)
2. Lost 3 chicks.
3. They had to move my ship date back

I received my order from Cackle yesterday. I ordered 15 Cuckoo Marans, 15 Favorolles, 10 Japs, 25 Broilers and a Happy Cackle. They were all alive when I picked them up yesterday morning. As of right now, 8 of the 10 Japs have died and 4 of the Favorolles. I have no idea why. They seemed healthy when I picked them up.

I ordered from Cracklehatchery"com OVER two weeks ago. They're website says to allow ten days for a response. I called. They have no idea about my order yet, nor have I recieved even a confirmation email. Getting VERY frustrated.
