Cackle Hatchery reviews

Crackle hatchery is great! Their customer service is wonderful. I just got my chicks yesterday and everyone was alive and good. Crackle kept me informed of a delay in shipping and e mailed me when there was a mix up with my phone number and the post office was trying to get a hold of me.

I think the best thing is, the order it's self. I ordered a hungry special. That 50 meat birds and 25 brown eggs layers. When I checked sex, most of the birds are hens, which is just what I wanted.

Crackle is a great hatchery and I will be ordering from them again.

I ordered their Cackle Surprise and I was very pleased. I only lost one chick, and that was my fault (too many birds at once trying to get to the waterer). I called them once about my order. This was the first time I ever ordered chicks through the mail and I was unsure how it all worked. Even though my order was only for $60, they treated me very well.

If I was going to order chicks again, they'd probably be the first place I'd look.

I've ordered meaties from them and layers and never once had a dead chick. :)

Am REALLY disappointed, though, that the Cinnamon Queens are not NHR x SLW as that cross (the true CQ cross) seems to be scarcer than hens teeth.

(A goodly amount of money could be made providing true CQ hatching eggs or chicks. Other hatcheries I've called have stated they call just about any RSL a Cinnamon Queen and one that was advertising CQ's never heard of a NHR/SLW cross.
Bottom line: RESEARCH before ordering!)

I love Cackle Hatchery. I have ordered from the twice, a few years apart. The first time I ordered the Heavy Straight Run Assorted Special with 5 Phoenix and this time I got the Happy Cackle Special. Both time I was met with great customer service and wonderful birds. If I order from any hatchery again, it will be Cackle. I think next time I'll go for the Surprise box! :)

Oh yes, you have to go for the surprise!!!!

I have my order all set.  Do I need to add the surprise?

The surprise is 40 plus chickens (can have ducks, geese, turkeys). Since shipping is included in the price of the surprise I am having mine sent six weeks after my regular order. I do t have room for 80 chicks at once! Plus the possible need to separate bantams, large fowl, ducks, geese, and turkeys all at once.

I guess you have to ask yourself if you have room.

I don't know if this is true for all flocks of chickens, But since the goslings, ducklings and poults from the Happy Cackle Special kept trying to eat the chicks, I put them in with the established flock (just to see what'd happen) and had absolutely no problems. The chickens accepted them like they'd always been there. They have a heat lamp in the coop for warmth. It's funny because the ducklings and the poults follow the goslings everywhere. Except of course when they go in the pond. Haha, poor little turkeys! So cute though!

I have room, I just need to decide which deal to get. We could use a pen of meat birds, but I want more polish too.... *counting chickens*
