Cackle Hatchery reviews

Ordered 30, got 30,all healthy and chirping madly! At six weeks, we haven't lost a bird. I'm a Cackle fan. My Speckled Sussex are the most curious, fearless chicks I've ever seen, but the NH Reds and Barred Rock are also turning into great birds.

I'm glad to see so many positive responses. I knew I couldn't be the only one that did well with Cackle chicks.

I love Cackle Hatchery! Got my order last Monday. Ordered 6 Light Brahmas, 6 Welsummers, 6 Speckled Sussex, 6 Silver Laced Wyandotte's, and 5 Spitzhaubens. All of them were alive, the roosters were marked(we didn't ask), and got an extra Light Brahma, and an extra Silver Laced Wyandotte. They are all doing great right now.

I understand people can be upset about bad situations, but this is a hatchery that ships thousands of birds. There will always be a few weak ones or runts, because they HAVE to ship them out before they are a day old. Its not like they can make sure they are growing properly. I feel like if people order chicks and they die, most people always try and blame the hatchery. Sometimes Cackle can make mistakes, but for the most part they don't. You often hear bad reports towards hatcheries more so than the good. I am certain the problems make up a very small percent.

What kinds did you get. Buff orpington? Barred Rocks?

I got appenzeller spitzhaubens, Buckeyes, Colombian wyandottes, and barred rocks.

My order of 15 Buff Brahma Bantams and a Waterfowl Special arrived this morning. No DOA, all are active, eating and drinking.

I added three Buckeyes to my Caxkle order due to arrive in late May, so I wonder if they'll lay as well as Jeffrey Lay's line of Layer Buckeyes.

I'm not familiar with Mr. Lay's chickens. I'll let you know how mine do somewhere in September. I hope to get a bunch of hatching in in the fall. And... a bunch of eggs.

Thank you, I can't wait to hear. I'm assuming Cackle's breeding program has included a focus on production, so I'm hoping for large eggs at least 4 times per week, if possible. But if not I'll still love 'em. The Buckeye egg pics i've seen have been a unique shade of brown within a range of light to medium tones.
