cackle hatchery2

    has anyone bought any standard old english game form cackle hatchery? Brown Red Spanlged black reds or blacks if so good Fowl or not?

    Never bought 'em myself. Contact Prariechiken if you want, he bought them from cackle before. I've heard they were manfighters, and can be a little gamey but not a whole lot. Hatcheries aren't really the place to go for good quality fowl, especially not if you're wanting gamefowl in my opinion. There are a few standard OEG breeders around, NYREDS is a judge, maybe he could tell you where to look. I know he mentioned he had some before.

    I saw someone on the Show off your Games thread with LF OEG's before, don't remember who.

    Otherwise, I would also say do not look for any sort of gamefowl from hatcheries. They breed out the gamey behavior, broodiness, and in the end you just get a skinny looking bird. [​IMG]

    I have some OEGB Crele and Spangled from cackle, I don't know if they are "show quality" but they are nice little birds, friendly and until a tragic accident this week both the roos free ranged w/ all my other chickens w/ no problems.
